I was researching the infinity- was not crazy about the styling of the sedan, mainly the interior, loved the engines though.

BMW- Chris Bangle has ruined the cars for me, I cant seem to accept the styling.

Mercedes- I could only afford the C class, was not crazy about it either.

so I went to Lexus last, test drove a GS 300 because the 400 is a bit more then I wanted to spend, I was ehhh, its ok.

I drove the IS, felt small and after riding in the back seat I could hear way too much road noise, I like the new styling of the IS, but honestly I wanted something a bit more refined and comfortable.

So I went with the new ES 350, new styling for 2007, I was not even considering the car until I seen it at the dealership, I have not seen one on the road yet as its only been out for a month or two. Might be one of the quietest cars I have ever been in.

So after all the years my trusty Lexus has given me its time to sell it off to someone else, I have a list of friends who want to buy it so hopefully one of them want because I wanted someone I know to end up with the car. I can pick it up Monday, just not 100% sold on the color I chose, it was not at the dealership so I cant see it in that color until Monday, I signed the papers based on color approval.

Think its too old fart? I have to see if I want the graphite wheels or the chrome, think I want the graphite.

Toyota (and of course, Lexus) have the distinction of making--indeed, of ALWAYS having made--cars of phenomenal durability and dependability. If they have a downside, in my opinion, it's that their cars often lack the originality of some other makes and can feel a bit bland from behind the wheel. However, in choosing a car for a daily driver, these can hardly be considered faults. Lexus has succeeded in the luxury segment because their cars are damn good. I am sure you will continue to be a satisfied Lexus owner.

As far as the old fart thing goes, it seems I see a lot of old farts tooling around in Corvettes and Porsche's, so no, I don't think it's an old fart kind of car. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...R#>/tongue.png

its like I have a car for every occasion but when I have to drive somewhere like dinner or to a relatives house I prefer it to be in comfort and quiet.

Even when I first got my license I always loved the feel of a larger sedan on the highway. The service at Lexus is awesome, the waiting rooms, thats right more then one becuase they have one for reading, one for watching tv, one with coffee and snacks, are nicer then most dealerships showrooms.

Compare it to the hallway I have to wait in that has 5 chairs in it at my Mazda dealer that I have to argue with to fix the damm car right. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683664.gif

bro just picked up a loaded es 350 last week...

drove it around and must say.. too refined for me.. nice but she drove like a boat

congrats on the new ride..

Rob x-7 06-24-2006 09:51 PM

your too used to the Mazda 6, when I get in that car I feel the difference, it makes me want to take turns faster and get into the driving more, but when I have to drive somewhere and im sitting in traffic I prefer something more comfortable.

amp 06-24-2006 10:17 PM

noticed you left out acura in the mix rob.... any specific reason..

curious as im weighing out options on what to do when the six is paid off..

Rob x-7 06-24-2006 10:28 PM

I never liked the Acura much, dont know why, im sure they are nice cars. I could just never bring myself to like them thats all.

ChainSawOnSteroids 06-24-2006 11:15 PM

congrats on the vehicle, i have the 05 330 with tinted windows, a catback and k&n filter, potenza 245 tires, handles much better, much more responsive, but when i want to relax, i just cruise, i couldnt be happier with this car. i also have the navi with mark levinson audio, fully loaded package

i had the ls before this one, that was an old farts car.

Rob x-7 06-25-2006 09:21 AM

a catback exaust on a ES?

I want the car quiet!

herz3mc 06-25-2006 12:04 PM

That's a beautiful, sexy car, congratulations. Not old fart at all. I love their new design.

Have to agree with you about Chris Bangle. Guess I'm stuck with this old one for awhile https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png

Even if it is Camry-based, they have certainly done a lot more to the styling than add a few chrome strips and a bit more leather. I like the look of the styling on the IS a little better, but still it looks nice. Good buy

rowtareh 06-26-2006 02:04 AM

Good choice, and I need a new daily driver, the Wrangler is killing me right now. Gonna get rid of it by summers end. Just not liking the ride that much anymore, at least for a daily driver.

I have many options, but don't know what to go with as of right now. Gonna wait until the 07's come screeching into the dealers.

Rob x-7 06-26-2006 06:58 AM

I told you those jeeps make sucky drivers, the ride gets old real fast.

Going tonight to look at more colors at a different dealer, I have a feeling the other dealer was pushing to get rid of this color car.

I can shop in confidence knowing they want to sell me the car and that my credit allows me to get the best rate, its nice when you dont have to feel like they are doing you a favor selling you a car.

Rob x-7 06-26-2006 03:01 PM

definitly did not like that color in person as it was on the color chart, so its off to a different dealer tonight who supposidly has all colors in stock.

BigTurbo74 06-26-2006 09:11 PM

bobby- go test drive a new acura TL. like you said about the es 350, you might be suprised...

Rob x-7 06-26-2006 09:26 PM

I bought black, pick it up tomoroww evening.

Rob x-7 06-27-2006 07:12 PM

picked it up tonight, sorry for the crappy pics!

rowtareh 06-28-2006 12:35 AM

Yeah, the ride is getting pretty shitty. I did not mind it really at first, but its getting harsh, and gas prices ain't changing any time soon.

Probably going to go with something used, more than likely a Honda Accord. I will sell the Jeep privately though, not playing the trade in game. Played it everyday for a year, not very fun.

Or I might go with a Mazda 6, seems like a good car to get, and it's not too pricey, and good gas mileage. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png

Very pretty car Rob.

My parents have always bought Lexus, they seem to love them.

Over the years they've had-

ES300

ES400

ES430

SC300

SC430

They are definately nice cars when you wanna go out for a queit night, dinner and movie etc w/out having every tool in the county rev at you.

I'm sure you'll grow more satisfied with it every day.

Rob x-7 06-28-2006 08:52 PM

I dont think they made a ES400 or a ES430, maybe your thinking a LS or a GS?

So far I love the car, its so damm quiet and comfortable and it has good power, like 270 hp or something like that, its so smooth and the smartkey is a nice touch as well. You dont need a key to start the car or open the doors, just walk up to the car and push the button to start it, the seats, mirrors, radio stations, etc.. automatically set to the driver when you walk up the car.

The headlights seeing around corners is nothing new, but a first for me, kinda freaks you out first time you do it!

My mom got a 06 ls430 back at christmas. Moonlight pearl with tan (camel I think) interior. Completely loaded. I don't think there is an option she doesn't have. The damn car is smarter than me.

Rob x-7 07-07-2006 07:16 AM

I love larger sedans, the LS is just a little bit too old man for me right now, maybe next time though https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683785.gif

Haha. yeah. I'm the same way, I love the car, but it wouldn't fit me...

My mom is 44 though... fits her well... lol
