I closed the deal to sell my 911 today. I loved that car, and really fell in love with it once I hit the mountain roads with it up in North Carolina.

Some professor at Yale bought it which is ironic because I bought it from a professor an Kansas University they went to Notre Dame together.

The only cool thing about this is that its a 1980 and I sold it for what I paid for it and never did a thing too it beyond oil changes and a valve adjustment. 2 years of driving it basically for free.

I would lie if I said I was not going to miss it. But the money in my bank account right now make me feel better.

The car is lowered to euro specs.

In those pics of me going through a turn on the Tail of the Dragon (killboy took them) I am gettin it. I am probably doing abround 45-50 MPH at the top of second gear in that turn. So yeah, she is squatting down and leaning to the outside.

I cannot wait to get my RX7 on that road, this spring for sure.

If I still have my house near there I might shoot up for that as well.

I am always looking for an excuse to drive the Dragon. I have a house 1 hour from the dragon in the mountains and I have a buddy up there int he town where my house is. We do a really cool drive on Sunday mornings called the 3 state revival. We drive about 130 miles through 3 states all on great backroads with no cars hardly ever on them. I almost like it better than the dragon.

A typical road:

Why we named the drive 3 State Revival,

1. its on a Sunday morning in the Bible belt when everyone is in church.

2. we see these signs all along the way

3. 3 states. NC Ga and SC.

I got a cool e-mail from the new owner this morning. It gave me a chuckle so I thought I would share.

Hi Jim,

The 911 arrived today. Wow! I only drove it a short 4 miles from the pickup point to my house but it made an impression on me. Thanks for leaving the plate on you didn't need to do that as I had a temp. I'll put it in the mail to you. Quick funny story: Inside the transport truck was a GT3 RS. Last night the driver had to off load the cars to deliver one at the front of the truck. It was snowing pretty good. She said, I thought yours was cooler so I left the GT3 in the snow and quickly put yours back in. So the GT3 was covered with about an inch of snow inside the truck but the 1980 bone dry and shiny.

best,

Pat

That's a funny story.

I might hit up the Dragon in a few weeks. I'll be down in Georgia for a few days and that seems like a nice drive for the Legacy (too bad it won't have the F1s on it).
