I was thinkin of lookin for a Mach 1, and was wondering if eventually it would be possible to drop a triple rotary in. I love rotaries to death and couldnt think of driving a car with more than 300 cubic inches so would that be possible? How much custom work exactly would be involved?

It's heavy and the original 428cu in Cobra-Jet can pull it faster

Their is nothing original about a 428 Cobra jet. Not all the Mach1's came with them. Only a select few and I have seen those go for around 30k on ebay. I think he is talking about the regular Mach1's with the 351. If not then I will shoot him https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/angry.png

if you do this...which i hope you won't, go for the 71+ they are heavier but not desirable like hte 69-70 mach1, you most likely won't be ruining anything worth money if you go with the 71 unless its a boss 351 or something like that

evilT2 06-03-2003 12:17 AM

dude seriously.... i know people bitch about people putting v8s in rx7's, but putting rotaries in mach 1's has got to be a sin or something. However, if i saw a three rotor jobber i would probably have to give you props for the work alone. Of course on a car that heavy already, i dont think its going to be worth the money saving a couple hundred pounds up front. Its never going to be that great in the twisties.

Rotarys are weak for that much metal, IMHO

428s are availible in 681/2 to 70. 429s were a 71 only. Then there was the 351W 2v, 351W 4v, 351C 2V, 351 4V.

djgiantrobot 06-05-2003 08:07 PM

there were 429s in the earlier mustangs 69-70 or maybe just 70, a thing called the boss 429

Yes, that is a hemispherical headed engine. They are worth $40K +/-
