Low idle/stalling since new exhaust

I just put a turbo back exhaust from Road Race Engineering on my girlfriends 99 eclipse GST. Everything went together great and it sounds pretty good.

Problem is...now when driving and slowing/downshifting to come to a stop the RPM drops down really low(<400) and will then go up to about 600 but occasionally it will stall out instead of going back to the normal idle. It re-starts immediately when it does stall out though. I checked to make sure all vac. lines were connected, checked brake booster vac line, & cleaned out the MAS plug. None of that helped at all.

Everything else seems fine. Nothing really abnormal. Its just kind of wierd that it happened right after I installed the exhaust. Anyone have any good ideas.

BTW...the only mods are 3" turbo back exhaust w/high flow cat, and Apexi intake.

Anyone have any good ideas?

do you have the BOV vented to the atmosphere?

rx7trix 10-01-2003 08:27 PM

word...mass airflow meter ....bov must be recirculated

Sounds like you have false air entering the system. You have a loose hose some where or a vacuum leak. I know you said you checked, but check again. The best way is to pressure test the system. You would be surprised at all the little leaks you find. If that doesnt work try the BSS. Base Idle Set Screw. Its located on the throttle body. Its covered with a cap from the factory. Back it out slightly until the idle is at 750. 600 is low. HOWEVER. If the car idles normally at 750 normally when its idling correctly, DONT MESS WITH THE SCREW. If you back it out too much the idle will begin to surge.

o2 sensor?

I know on alot of 3" systems the last o2 rubs.

Are they all in tight? all the wires are ok?

Just a thought.
