Thinking of taking the plunge and trading my Jeep for it. I am going to drive one today probably. Anybody else driven one yet? Like's/dislikes? I know I know, go the for 6, but I can't shell out 28k for one. I am just getting tired of the Jeep, need better gas mileage, and a smoother ride. Had the Jeep for almost 2 years now.

teknics 04-13-2007 11:30 AM

dont do it until next model year.

check out the mazdaspeed 3 forums...the motor/trans is FALLING OUT OF THE CAR.

seriously, the mounts snap and the whole thing goes kerplunk under the car. BIG REPAIR JOB.

kevin.

fc3sboy1 04-13-2007 12:15 PM

the motor falling out the car issue is false in the sence that the engine can drop yes but does not fall out the car. there are only a few cases of that happening and its not really a buy or not buy kind of problem. the right motor mount is weak and you can easly have it replaced before any problems happen.

TYSON 04-13-2007 04:03 PM

And I would assume it's all warrantied.

I'd still make a replacement though. and then drive it like I stole it.

jwteknix 04-13-2007 04:34 PM

its nice was driving one today the cluthc is perfect and it sounds soo sexy lol its a good car havent seen any in for major repair just service

Rob x-7 04-13-2007 05:08 PM

yeah Kevin- get it straight, the motor DROPS, it does not FALL

rowtareh 04-13-2007 06:04 PM

Well you'd figure with those motor problems it would be covered under a warranty. Did not get the chance to drive one, will be doing it tomorrow, since I am off of work. Woot!

NotalesS 04-13-2007 06:41 PM

As far as messing with them in the dealerships there Damm fast little sucksers. Only thing i dislike about them is that, there FWD V_V Mazda should have really went AWD liked the ms6.

As far as service wise, we haven't seen too much trouble with them other then normal wear and tear.

jwteknix 04-13-2007 06:47 PM

yeah i would like it if they didnt only come in a wagon and the awd would be awsome as long as they dont use they ms6 clutch is sucks balls lol

Cheers! 04-13-2007 11:34 PM

Lease it... that way you can drive it like you stole it and after 4 years you walk away from it.

personally I would get the mazdaspeed6. It's not that much more money and it's a lot lot nicer

I would lease it, but I don't know where I will be in 2-4 years. Not saying I won't be paying for it, but I don't want to go over my mileage. Other things gotta have it worked on at the dealership to stay up with the lease. Unless that is a rumor?

Not going today AGAIN, **** ass weather. I may just bite the bullet and say **** it, let's go. Would be fun in the rain no?? Hehe.

When did they first hitting the showrooms? 3-4 months ago? Or earlier than that? I would not suspect very much from service bulletins when it's only been out for a few months. Takes time for **** to start happening to them, if it's not due to driver error.

rfreeman27 04-14-2007 08:28 PM

I freaking love mine. Driving it is a blast.

3k on it in 5 months and no problems yet. I boost that thing every chance i get too...

I cant wait to mod mine a little bit, they should be damn fast without the restrictive tune, it eletronically cuts the throttle at high rpm to bleed boost.

until that though, it pulls hard!

Are you 100% happy with it? NO regrets? I really want one, I just won't be able to do anything for about 6 weeks, and they look damn sexy in black! Other colors I don't really care about.

Rob x-7 04-15-2007 09:08 AM

I never let the dealership work on any cars I have leased.

They also allow more damage then you would think.

Some give you free maintance, but you aint going to get that with Mazda.

it worked out BIG TIME for me on my lease for the 6. That car has no resale whatsoever, driving that car for 4 years on the lease is saving me over $7000 if I had chosen to purchase it instead of the lease.

spaceman Spiff 04-15-2007 04:57 PM

does it cut throttle to bleed the boost or is it a dump valve at the throttle body? and does it do it to restrict the speed or does it do it to keep from overboosting. I know on our lysholm setups (vw) we have to bypass the ISV because it will bleed off boost anything above .8 bar to keep from overboosting. and there is a dump valve on the throttle body to keep the car from boosting at idle and low rpms that we mess with too. it rerouts the boost to intake untill 5 degrees off of WOT

Hmmm, does not sound bad to me at all. And I was looking more into a lease more than a purchase. My negative equity will be gotten rid of once I am done, which is my main goal right now, and I have another 4 years of the Jeep to deal with. Yeah, I was an idiot, purchased for 72 months.

Driving one today, and my Jeep is finally working out well, changing the front brake rotors next week.

rowtareh 04-18-2007 09:45 PM

One of the dealers has a 2006 MazdaSpeed6 with 9500 miles, color is white. I am not so big on white colored cars, but it looks good on the Speed6. But of course there was no price on the car, so the sales guy was dicking around with the price. I got out of there real quick. And the new car guys did not even notice me at all. I guess my tattoo's scared them away, and they thought "a broke ass **********er, he ain't got no money".

So yeah, I am gonna look up the price for that used one. I am liking the 6 alot now too, but it's more money. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.gif

cuts throttle.

not sure what it is on the speed 6, but my 6 is dirt cheap to insure, may want to compare the insurance on the 3 and the 6 to factor into the overall cost of ownership.

done it, and there is about a 5 dollar difference between the two believe it or not. that is per month. my insurance will go up about 125 per 6 months compared to my wrangler. it's all because of the rating they put on mazda's for theft, cost of parts, etc. some IGR or IRG thing that companies use. rated at like a 23 for the MS3 and the MS6 is a 24 I believe. the wrangler is like an 18.

an rx-8 is around the same price for insurance as well. i thought that would be alot more per month.

found some datalogged dynos, and not only does the boost drop via the boost solenoid, the electronic throttle starts to close over 5500 too

Rob x-7 04-25-2007 04:30 PM

my 6 costs me like $950 for the year to insure

my insurance dropped alot when I moved to Illinois from maryland. and I am still close to a major us city. close to DC in maryland, and I am even closer to st. louis. it's weird. i also only drive about 3 miles to work.

i will see how everything works out. plan to get the MS3 though, better gas mileage, and MUCH cheaper msrp.
