I would get the SL/CL65 AMG motor. It was tuned down to 604hp and 738 ft/lbs. They were tuned down because they kept destroying the already strengthened trannsmission.

Is there a manual tranny out there that can handle 700+ lb ft?

It is called "Exelero". It was a car built in cooperation with Fulda tires to test tires under the severest conditions. I saw it in real life at the IAA Frankfurt Motorhow about a week ago. Impressive ride.

Some of the AMG mercs handle that much and more. Id' like to see how big/heavy the 'boxes need to be for that https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...>/rolleyes.gif

Actually they aren't any bigger then a standard RWD auto trans. Its all about the software that controls everything that makes them handle the power

rowtareh 10-01-2005 06:43 PM

Yeah, and that is a heavy pig also. 6k+ pounds I read.

But it does look impressive.

Yep, 600hp & tq will still move a 6,000 pound vehicle pretty well....
