Kia Elan Virtual Test Drive

That's right. A Kia sports car may be in the works. Very interesting little proposition Kia may be posing: what is essentially a Lotus Elan for approximately $20,000.00.

even though it seems like a cool car, i highly doubt kia will be able to get into the market of sports cars. Even with a lotus design. However i could be wrong, hyundia is doing a pretty good job and they have a pretty decent fan base for the 'sporty' tiburon.

FWD completely put me off the Elan's until I got a ride in one https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...DIR#>/ohmy.png - trust me, you won't care that it's FWD after about 30 seconds. When it came out the mags were saying Elan = best handling FWD ever, now I haven't driven enough cars to know whether that's true, but it wouldn't surprise me. I wonder if Kia sorted the reliability issues, if so then its an excellent car, even with the problems, at $20,000 it's still good value IMO.

i think i remember reading in a magazine(motortrent, car&driver etc.) about this around 5-6 years ago. But imagine if you get that and put in a 20b.

That would be most incredibly awesome. I've always liked the Elan. And at half price, why not?

Interestingly, when the Elan was under developement, Lotus tested both front-drive and rear-drive prototypes. Across country, point-to-point, the front-drive car was faster.
