A friend of mine is looking for a Wrangler, and I found her (before you ask, yeah, she's hot) an '89 with 122K on it. How much longer could this bucket last if it hasn't been thoroughly abused? I don't want to convince her to get a shitbox, because I'd feel bad if it broke down.

Humm.. that one looks fairly nice, but can she not get a little bit newer one?
|
I think she'd be keeping her Cherokee, so she'd be looking for something in that price range.
|
That's 195200 KM, sounds a little high
|
Oh ok, that's cool. I guess no one in here owns a jeep that could testify on it's reliability..
|
I know that Grand Cherokee Laredo's start to disapate around 50K. We have a few in the used car lot, and they suck ass!!!
|
I know only one person who actually LIKED their Jeep after driving it a couple years. Too noisy, too cold in the winter, scary to drive in the winter because of short wheelbase. Basically too crude to drive a lot, unless you want it for it's off roading ability. I wouldn't get one as sole means of transportation.

Are you all mad? Jeeps are one of the best SUVs on the market. We own two Grand Cherokee laredo's..a '94 and an '02.
SOME jeeps do have problems, but if your going to buy one, find one w/ the inline 6cyl, like the laredos or wrangler...the V8s that they used for the the jeeps weren't the greatest in the world and had issued. Our '94 has 270K miles on the original motor, nothing has had to be replaced yet. However, we did have to put a new 4x4 dif in it at 265K miles..but what can you expect...most 4x4 difs go out at 100K miles,lol... Another comparable vehicle would be a broncoII..they have one of the best 4x4 systems i've used and I've never been stuck in one(but no, I dont like ford,lol).. My uncle has worked for chrysler for the last 20+ years...so I'm biased on the domestic market i guess...but jeeps are fine vehicles...just get a 6cyl! |
Heheh, The Grand Cherokee is not quite the same thing as the TJ https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png
You're talking about a vehicle that costs more than twice as much. I don't know about the reliability issues, but the comfort level is not even close to being comparable. |
The Wrangler I linked has the 6cyl, but I'm not sure which one.
