My freind is going to be selling his 240sx soon and offered it to me. Its a 91 or 92( i cant really remember wich) it has 168k miles( maybe less ill have to check). It runs really good and has a strong motor and tranny, ive road in it a few times and its a really good car. The interior is in good shape and so is the outside no rust or damage to the body. Hes done some modes to it but not a lot just intake, exhuast(3 inch all the way back no cats), spark plug wires( 10 guage nology wires), and headers. He installed a stereo system i dont have a lot of details on it but it won 3rd place in a contest with 128 db's. The price is a little high 3500 or 4000 with all the stereo stuff( amps, speaker boxs) kelly blue book says its worth 2750 but he needs to pay off the loan he got to buy the car. I think he might sell it to me a little cheaper since i am his freind. So what do you think should i go for this or is it a bad deal? Sorrow has already told me not to, but i dont know.

ive been thinking about getting that or a AE86. just the four seats appeal to me since im a family man. they are great cars. and people are starting to get back into them. just get the price a little lower (homie discount) and I think it would be well worth it

jspecracer7 08-14-2002 02:10 AM

That's a pretty good deal. I want a 240sx, but I'm going to put an SR20det in it...I've seen the performance of those cars and will want one as a daily driver since my FD will be a weekend runner.

Seppuku 08-14-2002 03:19 PM

my mom doesnt think its a good deal. She has a direct affect on my dads decision. I think its a good deal and ive looked at the prices on everything on it and it will end up cheaper to buy it this way. Damn parents and their excuses

get your dad drunk before ur mom talks to him and it prolly wont be a problem getting the 240sx. dont u think? if that doesnt work, try and work payments out w/ ur friend to buy the car. like 300 a month or something?

Seppuku 08-14-2002 04:17 PM

payments sound good i could probably do that but one more problem has came up now my brother wants it. He probably wont be able to get it so as soon as that gets cleared up it will all be fine.

kick ur brothers ass for the car. thats the solution to that one. or spit it with ur brother (thats ifu have a 2nd car) so u guys can havea project car together and its something both of u guys love. thats howme and my brotherdid it when i had a starlet. split costs on 4AGE, did all the work together. loads of fun. just have to have a brother that knows how to share

Speed Ricer 08-16-2002 10:13 PM

id get it and then put in the SR20 DET engine that would be kick ass :bigok: https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png B) https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png

you should look for an s13 with a blown motor, should be able to get one for about 1000. then get the SR motor for about 2500 and you'll be set. i just picked up a s13 coupe (more rigid and lighter than the fastback) and did the swap, a few more days and it should be running.. just my .02..

good luck!

SR20DET!

Friends shop recently swapped one into an 89!

Only trouble spot, extending the O2 sensor wires, mounting the intercooler!

Only ran the factory computer?? It does well but tops out way to soon!

The JDM ECU is required! Or Fuel cut defender.

Do It!!

two of my friends have them. one of just bought a new clean chassis we are going to swap over all of the sr stuff into the new car and sell the old one with the KA. the stock ecu runs good with full exhaust and fmic. the only thing i hate is the speed limiter at about 115mph that is very gay

Is a 240sx a 180sx?

Or is it a Silvia? If not what is a

stateside name for a silvia? Also

do they have the S14, and S15 too?

If so what are the names of those?

Thanks for the info

Good deal too bro..

The 240sx came in two models in the states, hatchback and trunk...like our 180sx and silvia...except that the silvia had "silvia style" front end, while the 240sx trunk had the pop up headlights like the 180sx. When Japan made the S14/S15 Silvia, they called it the 240sx in the states.

vosko 09-25-2002 07:51 AM

what van said and we have NO S15 :(

JT-Imports 09-26-2002 04:05 AM

Oh Shite.. The S15 is my fav of the Silvias... Still slow though hehe, but faster then my car at the current stage its in haha

Well thanks for clearing that up guys, I was always curious about that, I didnt want my cahonies chopped off though. Or however you spell it..haha

I just thought I would mention that you should check the suspension on the 240sx. If you have a bad suspension (worn shocks/springs, really old/torn bushings, etc.), the car will be eating tires really fast.

My former 240 did that. Just thought I would mention.
