I have heard that you can leave it in there for like 10,000 miles w/o changing, is this true? This would be a DD new camry for my mommy, so its under no stress whatso ever.

I wouldn't want to run any oil for 10K I would say 5K max.
is it the original oil? Cause if it is you should have changed it aftert the engine broke in.. If not.. It can be left in there but it is just better to change every 3k to 5k miles.. Just as preventative maintenece..
The engine is broken, but heard that now some synthetics are good enought to last like 10k on non-race cars. Just wondering if this was true...
Synthetic oils can last MUCH longer then that, the filter on the other hand needs changing regardless.
We used to change filters every 2500 miles and change the oil every 20,000 miles, using Amsoil and one of those cars had over 500,000 miles on it when it was retired from Limo use and still runs today. Change the filter, then top off the oil a bit to compensate for any loss of oil. |
Yes thats what I though, thxs Rob
what about syn in a bp? can u do that?
Bp? bridgeport?
yeah
Honda recommends changing the oil every 7500 miles for a 2000 Civic...that's pretty high for factory specs.
