"The restructuring of Honda’s new model programme that led to the death of the new Honda NSX is much more extensive than previously thought. Honda is completely dismantling its plans for the next two years as it attempts to deal with the rapid collapse in new car sales across the world.

Among the casualties of Honda’s rethink are a range of rear-wheel-drive cars to be sold under the Acura brand, a proposed V8 engine, a successor to the Honda S2000 and a convertible based on the forthcoming Honda CR-Z coupé."

I don't think the NSX ever made Honda a dime. I believe it was more of an advertising "vehicle" (no pun intended). I really do not understand how things could be so bad for them, that they would need to chop the NSX, S2000/3000 and F1 programs. As amp said, their are rumours of the NSX project still going on, contrary to all the reports of it being dead....

I wonder what will happen with their research center in southern california and if the collapse in sales will negatively affect their motorcycles.

RicerJ 01-30-2009 09:43 PM

They are in the buisness of small jet planes and are trying to FAA certify one of their jets. they are not making the engines themselves but put GE in charge of that.

And we all know the market for business jets is booming right now.
