It's old, it's not sexy, it's slow...but it sure as hell is fun!

Just picked up this Mister-Two for around 3 Grand. Not bad considering it has no rust, clean title, and came from an Mr2-shop owner.

New clutch, kyb struts, short shifter, and a neat little CAI that added to the awesome tone above 3-4k rpm probably with the help of the 2.2Litre size....plus the fact that it's directly behind your head!

I still have a set of Rx7 rims (2nd set I had with my car) so I am looking into fitting them on the Mr2 and getting springs this week, along with other Miscellaneous suspension goodies for AutoX and small exterior stuff.

An Mr2 with 3rd Gen wheels:

And a cool MKII I'd like mine to be like in the future (Minus the goofy roof scoop):

Even Turbo models don't "Need" it. I doubt it adds any significant HP anyways.... https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683664.gif

That's the whole purpose of the side air scoop behind the door...it goes DIRECTLY to the intake...

DJ Rotor 02-23-2006 04:00 PM

fun fact: that intake is just cosmetic on the turbos, it works with the jdm n/a

get yerself on mr2board.com!

Now I miss my old 91 MR. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...O_DIR#>/11.gif

I threw some wider tires on it, some eibach springs and some nitrous and it rocked. It had no roll and it loved the 50 shot. I will have to buy another one, but the turbo instead of the NA or do a supercharged V6 swap on a NA.

Well, Ill post an intro after this.. (being my first post)

I recently sold my MKII mr2 turbo to pay off some debt... I have the mr2's in my blood! Ill have another soon. Just got an FC in the mean time.

Best all around car hands down IMO... no offense to anyone lol

The sidevents flow directly where they should. And with the design of the 2, the air is provided from the sides and below. All air is evacuated via the vented engine lid. The side scoops just screw up air flow and provide no gain.

Def get on mr2oc.com and mr2board.com

Feel free to ask me if you have any questions.

PhoenixDownVII 02-24-2006 09:21 AM

I've been an MR2OC.com member since 2001/2002 when I had my first Mr2, a MKII Turbo.

Also bought a MKI Mr2 NA since then...

...so this is my third '2 https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...DIR#>/wink.png

I will say the MR2 is the best car all around too, I had a MK1 Supercharged with everything, full suspension, lighter and smaller S/C Pulley good for 12 lbs, Stock T2 Top mount, fluidyne, clutch, LSD, Hydra Stand alone.

Was good for 270whp in a car that weighed 2100lbs. It felt like a controlled drift in the canyons, the weight shift was awsome, you felt like you could do anything in it and get away with it. The best all around car is a MR2 platform...until it snows.

diabolical1 03-04-2006 11:46 AM

nice car you've got there. every once in a while i think about getting one of those non-turbo MR2s to build a racecar out of, but rotaries are in my blood. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/BURNOUT.gif

... it's not sexy ...

what's that all about? https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png

these cars have stood the test of time in terms of looks. i still catch people giving me a second look when i drive mine and i think that's pretty good considering all the "SUV-and-rectangular-wedge"-crazed cattle out there in this land.

PhoenixDownVII 03-07-2006 01:21 PM

Well I should say "Not AS Sexy" (As the FD)

The MKII Looks just...odd. It's nose end is too "Ford Probe" where it should be "NSX". The rear panel's and whatnot are just odd IMO. The car has it's good angles and then some very odd ones. It's just very "Toyota"...for a lack of better words.

The MKI I think at times looks BETTER than the MKII, but it definitely shows its age being a BOX.

You'll still get looks, sure, because they are rare, not necessarily because everyone's in awe of it's design.

I still say they are a fun car to drive and own and I am glad Toyota made them just as they are...

Update: The car didn't pass inspection recently https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683664.gif but I just ordered the inner tie rods it needs.

I also ordered a set of clear corners (looks great on the red car), a set of Eibach springs, and plan on getting floor matts, steering wheel, 16" Rims/Tires, and R-compound tires (For my stock rims, if possible) very shortly...by the end of april the latest. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png Oh and sway/strut bars.

NA's are ok. I wish we got the 3SGE's at least, instead of the crappy camry motor.

xilovelsdx 04-11-2006 01:08 PM

can you even fit some groceries in the hood?

seems like there isnt that much room with the spare tire up there

You can fit some stuff in the frunk, if you took the spare out. The rear trunk is surprisingly roomy.
