ok I have an Rx-7 but I am asking this question for a friend. He wants to know if the gear drive is the same for a small block chevy and a 94 Z28. They are both 350's but will the gear drive work on newer engines or is it only for older engines?

It wont work, plus I dont really see the benefit of it in his car anyhow?

yes gear drive eliminates the use for a timing chain. What is the reason for it not working? And do they make them for newer cars? I think he is more interested in the sound it makes more then getting rid of the timing chain

Actually, the most gear drives for newer chevys dont work with a factory roller cam, there are ones that will and either way it takes some maching to get one to fit. And if Im not mistaken, no one makes one for if he has a LT1, which is what I believe he has anyhow, thats why I said it wont work. They are upwards of $350, plus the alot of work to get it in, I guess his goal is to trick people into thinking he has a blower?

I know it will take a bit of work to get it to fit up correctly. Not sure if they make one.
If he has plans of higher hp in the future it is not a bad idea... but if he is just after it for the sound I suggest something else... |
