My friend recently bought a 2002 Blue BMW M3 smg. Anyways he went to Moroso Wednesday. He ran a 13.00 @ 109. That was his first run too. I never thought these cars were that fast. What cars out there do you think can compare( performace, reliability) with this car being at most 5 years old and for under 35k. I'm refering to cars in stock form, Besides the EVO, and Sti.

was that stock? Thats a very very fast time. A buddy of mine had one, and granted im sure he wasn't the greatest driver, but his was a consistant 14-14.5.

Yeah stock, my friends is a smg(tip tronic). Are you sure your firends was a E46? I know the E36's run around 14.5.

well on the reliability front bmw is competeing with like daewoo, or yugo. the bmw is DESIGNED to fall apart right after the warranty expires.

my camaro ss was brand new for 29k...and they run between 12.9 and 13.5 stock.

and i bought mine used for 15k in jan. a z28 has like 10hp less and sold for a base price of 21k new.

13.00 seems a lil fast for a stock one...they weigh like 3400 lbs and are very peaky with the power output

this m3 is superchargered among other things and ran a best of 13.1 at 109mph

I was'nt there but this guy is a good friend and other firends were there so he would'nt lye. Maybe b/c of the elevation here in florida. Another firend is thinking of getting a z28 98-on ,I know those cars can be made fast with very little, since he'll be modding do you think he should save up and get the ss or do you think he should just go with z28 and go from there modding with the extra money? Thanz for your comments.

get whatever is the cheapest..only things that are different are badges, suspension, and exhaust. if he is planning on doign a suspension and exhaust ect....get a z28, i'm leaving my car stock till i can afford a sts turbo kit. it all depends how much he has...the stock rear in these cars sucks, so tell him to save some cash to replace that...and first mod that should be done is sub frame connectors! but the ncie thing is peopel are impressed when they hear "SS" cause of its past...but a z28 is jsut about as fast stock for stock...although some camaro ss had more options from slp, like a intake, diff cat back and some other upgrades like an adjustable suspension..so just know what your buying basically.

tell him to get a 2001+ also...they came with the zo6 clutch, before those years..the stock clutch would slip right out of the box.

Daewoo unreliable? You must be getting different ones. As a matter of fact I thought Daewoo are no more since chevy bought them - they still sell the cars, but not as Daewoo's.
