the wheels dont look that great for the design. no way are those seats going to end up in the production model! overall it looks good though, definitly different from the other stangs ( except 65 of course )

rx7machine 02-12-2003 10:51 PM

I think it looks pretty cool.. But, I don't know about the two seater thing..

It just doesn't seem quite like a mustang with only two seats.. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/dunno.gif

papasmurf 02-12-2003 11:02 PM

that makes people who look at the concept focus on the driver's seat when they see it. all concept coupe's that are "sport" influenced have only two seats. production will DEFINITLY have 4

Damn.. I forgot it was the concept.. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png Yea, you're probably right..

MDoMe7 02-12-2003 11:07 PM

i like it a lot

papasmurf 02-13-2003 12:05 AM

honestly i wish it only had two seats. it is more "personal" if you all know what i mean.... when your driving alone you are one with the car and do not feel empty when you look in back. when youre with someone the car seems full, but still just as responsive.

unless u got a family 4 seaters are overrated to me

FikseRxSeven 02-13-2003 12:16 AM

looks like it will be very heavy

FikseRxSeven 02-13-2003 12:17 AM

true....... i dont like giving rides, unless its to ONE other person that i might like

rx7machine 02-13-2003 12:19 AM

I just wouldn't like a mustang with two seats.. it's like they're trying to move in on totally different territory.. mine.. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png Having 2 seats is also great for excuses.. "sorry.. I can't fit but one person.." :smirk:

FikseRxSeven 02-13-2003 12:27 AM

haha, one time there were two girls wanting a ride home, and we were coming from a club...........i fit one of them sitting sideways behind the seats

papasmurf 02-13-2003 12:30 AM

haha you made a great point with the new territory, theyll be competiting with another ford car that costs a little bit more (t-bird of course)... they will make the interior more plasticey. i dont believe the mustang (new or old ) should be considered a sports car though because it has 4 seats.

a great thing with the fd is when your friend sees you at a local restraunt and needs a ride when your about to go home with your girl ( hes going to "****-block" you, you just say hell only two seats! and no trunk!)...

gotta love that

with the stang, id love to see what kind of crap wheels they put up with the v-6 variant

rx7machine 02-13-2003 12:40 AM

I've done that one before too.. (in my FC)

3 spoke hell!!!!

as for carring people in an rx.. is it possible to fit a 5'8in tall person SOMEHOW between the rear seats and taking up part of the trunk?? ive never really tried it.

FikseRxSeven 02-13-2003 01:23 AM

thats pretty and all, but i doubt that it will come out like that when it comes out at 2005 (the earliest) remember how the rxevolve looked like before it was rx8.........

papasmurf 02-13-2003 01:32 AM

ford sticks close to its concepts though. t-bird... all parts including most molding techniques are already in their parts bin ( half and half fog lamps from the am db7 etc etc... interior by lincoln ls as usual. they will change the hood scoops to non functional ( so they do not need to produce a radically new intake for the existing mustang engine. ) wheels and some interior bits will change the most. plan on seeing a lot of ford dials and switches from the new taurus in it, but different color. all brushed aluminum will be done away with for the v-6 model as well...

rxevolve was a design study to see public awareness of that type of auto with a certian type of styling techniques.

bmw concept with "flame surfacing" is now the z4 etc etc.

phinsup 02-13-2003 01:40 AM

I guess the old school style worked with the thunderbird, so they are going to try it with the stang. I like it, I dunno what it will look like when it hits the floor, but it is pretty cool. Only downside is there will prolly be 2 million of them on the road within the first model year.

FikseRxSeven 02-13-2003 01:47 AM

according to my economics teacher............ the mustang stayed in the market was because most of the new car buyers are girls and they prefer mustangs over F Bodies........... hence, mustangs are bitch cars

its very nice though......hehe

phinsup 02-13-2003 01:50 AM

The mustang has always marketed toward women.

papasmurf 02-13-2003 01:52 AM

wtf those bastards!!! i never see gt's or cobras with girls driving... v-6 has and will always be a bitch car. either stang OR f body

Joe Flo 02-13-2003 10:38 AM

I saw a story about the car on T.v.. The Production vehicle will be very similar to the one in the picture only it will have 4 seats and the roof

will not be as low. Other then that everything is staying the same as the concept.

papasmurf 02-13-2003 10:59 AM

higher roof? its going to look odd...

Joe Flo 02-13-2003 11:02 AM

I think the added seat will compensate for the height change

papasmurf 02-13-2003 11:19 AM

now that i think about it there is NO way for them to keep the front looking as it does. if you notice in the pics of the racing type harness that retract to the seat backs. with 4 seats those front buckets could not work...

fcrotornut 02-14-2003 02:51 AM

if they kept it a 2 seater, made the car lighter and put a nice big v8 in it i might actually like it, its kinda retro, and a frikin sexy car....but of course leave it up to ford to ruin a good thing by making it heavy and underpowered

Turbo II 02-14-2003 01:34 PM

ehhhh i dont like it. too much old school with new school. kinda like the thunderbirds. but i bet that car will sell a lot

rx7machine 02-14-2003 04:02 PM

Exactly.. but, it will never be close to my FD, two seater or mini-van.. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png

Rob x-7 02-14-2003 05:39 PM

car is going to be a 2+2, and it will corner the market considering no more

Firebirds or Camaros. Hate the Mustang if you will, but Ford sells a **** load of them, outsells Camaros and Firebirds combined.

75 Repu 02-14-2003 05:44 PM

Yupper, to bad they quit those 2 marques.. But I have seen proposed designs for a New camaro, which is also retro like this Stang..

rx7machine 02-14-2003 05:48 PM

Yea, there are a **** load of mustangs on the road.. that's kinda a reason why I wouldn't want one..

Haven't seen that one yet..

Joe Flo 02-14-2003 05:51 PM

I saw car and driver this past weekend. They did on a review on the 64 which was the first. They considered it the most anticipated car ever designed. And also the most overrated car ever made to this day....
