You are going to need a turbo flywheel, and a turbo starter. Just so you know. I bought mine from Jeff's Mazda in puyallup. I will keep my eyes open

I believe as long as you get a turbo flywheel you will be ok. I have not test fitted yet but from what I hear as long as you have a FD of FC turbo flywheel you will be ok.

Is this tranny for blue or Isotus? I thought blue had the original tranny rebuilt? If so then they were running the smaller flywheel and a N/A clutch setup.? You are also going to have to get a modded t2 or auto driveline. I dont think there is any way around it.

My car is running all turbo driveline components, The spline count on the input shaft is different as well as the o.d. of the flywheel and clutch disc. Along with that you may want to modd the shifter assembly so the gear shift comes up in the stock location. I just helped Z-beater do his turbo tranny. If I can help let me know.

Chris

The Tranny is for Blue...Chris. Yeah I spent $1,000 to have blues tranny rebuilt by Dave Atkins. So if anyone wants a strong tranny thats not turbo'd then I will sell mine for cheap. I found everything I need at Corksport to do all these mods. Im kinda scared to do all this since Ive been so use to my car being supercharged. I hope to love turbos. Im not that fond of Iotus, even though its a quicker car than Blue.

Yes i do want the shifter to be put in the stock location. Does this mean I get to get rid of that long ass shifter that blue has and have a short shifter?

I forgot that the 79 and 80 rx7's have that different shifter location. So I came only say for certain that the 81 thru 85 mod. The shifter location on the t2 tranny is roughly 1-1/2 further back to the rear of the car. So if you stuck it into the car without modding it, the shifter would actually hit the sheet metal next to the factory hole. What i did was the cut the shifter selector rod down that 1-1/2 inches, retapped the hole. So I could bolt the shifter to the selector rod I just cut down. You also have to cut and weld the tube that surrounds the selector rod on top of the tranny.

That is the modd for the 81-85. I can't say for certain about blue. I would first stack the trannys next to each other with the bell housings facing down. Then you can tell how the two shifter locations relate to each other. Rob at pineapple was saying the t2 trannys are good to like 600 hp. You will also need to get a turbo tranny slave cylinder as they are different from the n/a ones. The hose should thread right in. Hope that helps.

Oh...I forgot that Blue was a SA. Chris did the mod on my tranny. We whipped it out in about 6hours. It is fairly simple. Just hard to wrap your head around if you do not have the tranny sitting right in front of you.

One thing I would wonder is if Blue has agood tranny. The question is did Atkin's rebuild the internals of blue to withstand some abuse. Hopefully they did, but you never know. If they did, then what is the use on changing tranny's?

Just my 2 cents,

David

Because I heard that no SA or FB tranny besides a T2 tranny will work for over 350hp. I know that tranny Dave Atkins build is a strong sucker. I use to go through trannys every 3 months until he rebuilt the one thats in blue now. Id rather do the safe thing and do a T2 tranny and give someone a hell of a good tranny thats under that certain hp range. I guess the housings cant with stand that much power on stock trannys. I think thats what sonic told me. Gotta love SA's (wtapita)

lol...I forgot to ask...do you have a baffled fuel tank? You will need one of those too.
