Alright, this isn't a car part... but something for you people out there that need a good video card for your games.

This is an ATi Radeon x700 Pro AGP.

In my computer I was able to run The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion with max view distance, Bloom (HDR style), Max Detail textures (w/2048x2048 upgraded landscape textures), etc, etc... basically its a really good graphics card, I just dont have an AGP slot anymore or I would still use this.

It has the original box, the power adaptor, composite and s-video cables, HDTV out cable, DVI to VGA adaptor. Its missing the orignal driver disc... but better new drivers can be downloaded from ati.com or I can burn them to CD if you need them (windows/linux has a built in driver that works until you can get the offical ones). I can get pictures if you really want them... dunno why, but I am leaving that offer open.

All this for $100, I paid $150 for this not too long ago... 3 months I believe.

Not on purpose, My other computer died, so I felt like upgrading to an athlon64... and none of the boards really have agp on them so PCIe it is...

My old comp might not seem that impressive, but it was tweaked to hell and back... and like my original post it played Oblivion very nicely. As well as anything else I threw at it... wow, daoc, fear, hl2, etc

my current PC aint really anything special either. I only got a 128 MB Asus ATI Radeon x600 TVD VIVO. (2) 256MB Dual channel DDR3200. TV tuner. 2.8GHz P4 Hyperthreaded. Can run the games I want/do play fine. I mainly used the box to mess around with getting OSX natively running on it. I was booting between OSX, XP, and Linux up until a little while ago. I am actually considering/looking to trade my system for even the base model Mac Mini (not even the new Intel ones). Next system I would love to go the route you went, but I would probably go the Intel Dual Core (64bit compatible) route because the CPUs are a couple hundred cheaper. Maybe next year I will build a new PC... Definately will go the water cooled route also.

yeah the only reason i got the a64 is because i found a really nice deal on it w/motherboard... but the motherboard was crap, and it also didn't have a real agp slot on it...



hrmm i wanna play with osx, hopefully i will be able to get that to boot on my comp, not holding my breath though since last i read it needed a intel processor w/sse3

the newest a64's support sse3, i do believe, but yeah, it will need a CPU_ID of intel for osx to work right, iirc



as for your crossfire, have you seen crossfire in action yet? until they come out w/their version of sli physics, crossfire just doesn't cut it yet...if you want dual gpu's, go nvidia. im ati all the way (x800 pcix right now), but dual-carding it just isn't in the cards for ati atm

SLI anything is going to be better than a single GPU. OSx86 will boot and install on AMD64 as long as the DVD is patched for it or if the DVD is patched for SSE2 and the CPU supports SSE2. I had it running on my P4 with SSE2 only. OSX is beautiful but doesn't work for my capture card and lacks good 3rd party software. Not to mention the lack of REAL gaming support. As a productivity and stability OS you really can't go wrong with it though. I can help you get OSX useable if you need a hand.

CrossFire doesn't cut it for framrates vs nvidia, but ati just released a new driverset today thats supposed to speed it up. I'm also not really looking for framerates but picture quality and price... the setup I choose is about 150$ cheaper than the nvidia sli setup with the 6600gt which only has 8 pixel pipelines rather than the 12 the x1600 has. Plus if its any better than my x700pro then I am all for it, since dual x1600pros is only going to cost me approx 40$ more than pci-express version of the x700pro. I tri-booted xp, osx, and linux. Got to love Acronis software. They make a killer bootmanager.

I agree with you when it comes to video quality. ATI is known mostly for their video quality. nVidia has always made excellent drivers but ATI made up for their poor drivers several years back. So as far as driver quality goes I think nVidia and ATI are on the same level at the moment.

Pixel pipelines are always going to dominate for newer games. The more pipelines the merrier. You can easily get away with having slower GPUs when you have more pipelines.
