[attachment=36799:attachment][attachment=36800:attachment][attachment=36801:attachment]Bougt a can of the seafoam and ran it through my volvo, it smoked for a good five minutes. Pretty much covered my neighbor's house with a cloud of swedish carbon. Anyways the car now has 191 k on it and pulls full boost per the ecu. So I pretty happy with it. Gets 27-29 on the freeway, and you can barely fit 2x4x10's in it.

Ha, when the picture is in thumnail size it almost looks like it is doing a one wheel burn out.
Did you neighbors come out and thank you for the free high? |
how well does that seafoam work??

how well does that seafoam work?? Well the funny thing is the first can I ran through there the day before, It was near pitch black cloud coming out. The pics I posted are from the second can on the second day. I think I works pretty well on getting the crap out of the combustion chamber. It seems to idle a lot smoother, . I am going to run some through the 7 next, definately will take some pictures of that, |
id like to try it but i fear carbon might be holding my motor together LOL
|
looks like it does work well to go from one treatment having you engine spew out black smoke, to the next having it spit out white. I have heard seafoam is good stuff from anyone I have known to use it. Aren't you supposed to add it to a tank that is about 1/4 way full?
|
Pull the vacume hose off the brake booster and stick it in the can of Seafoam, raise the engine speed to keep it from dying and piss off the neighbors.

On the Honda forums they do it in the gas tank. I guess both ways would work fine.

why would you visit such a place?

I seafoamed RXanne today and she loves me for it!! It's a totaly different driving experiance now! She feels like she did 40k miles ago! I'm so happy. I used one can per rotor. Oh yea! The guys at shucks all came out and cheered for me! I'm their best customer. "Hey it's the Rx-7 guy!"
|
Just ran some through mine also. I made a t-fitting to connect to vacuum for both rotors and then stuck the T with a hose into the bottle. Worked out nicely because both rotors got treated at the same time. I guess I could have also chose a vacuum source from the TB, but oh well. I had some piles of carbon out the back afterwards, stuff works great. Now if only I could get my damn TPS to hold a setting.
I was kinda worried after I took it out for a drive after waiting for it to stop smoking. When I went out for the drive it was still leaving a smoke trail and I was worried that maybe I had freed up something I shouldn't have! Smoking stopped completely after I did a couple miles of "spirited" driving. See you all at Izzy's tomorrow! |
same as above. I was kinda scared cause it was giving little blue smoke and i though it might've eaten my oil seals, but it stoped after one fun run to redline.
|
hmm should i try this or not..... still dont know if carbon is holding my engine together or not... haha
|
in a word YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
|
I second the motion. Go ahead and do it Ryan. Next on my list of things to do is clean the injectors to get rid of the surging throttle. Figure cleaning the injectors and also checking the pressure regulator should fix any further issues. Thanks to Ryan and Matt for finally getting my 7 to run and idle correctly.

where do you get seafoam, and how do you put it into an RX-7? especially if its propane?
|
Seafoam, yOu can get it at GI Joes or Auto Zone are the only places I have seen it. You are seriously running propane on a rx7? Please post a few pics, i would like to see it.

Shucks, Checker, and Kargen carry it.

Please post a few pics, i would like to see it. i'm not done converting it yet. i have to make the throttle plate adapter, myself, to adapt the propane carburetor to the intake manifold. I also need to get 2 LPG tanks that will fit under the backend. once we make the adapter, we're going to test it first, before we buy the other 2 propane tanks, so we know if whether or not it's going to work. i can take some pictures of the propane carburetor, and the fuel hoses if you want me to, once i get home from school. |
