I'm not sure who here already knows me from meets and car events or whatnot. My name is Steve and I have a black '89 T2 (with a messed up driverside door). Just letting you know there's another one of you locals on the board. See you around.

Good to meet ya.! Any news on the NW drift day event?

Jerk_Racer 11-25-2002 07:38 PM

Duh-oh! I've been busted on that. I've been meaning to get back with the dozens upon dozens of people that have asked me about this. So here it goes:

Actually, as you probably have figured out by now that this will not be happening. Well, at least not this December. That's not to say that it will not ever happen. Insurance is the holdup. Myself and a friend from club4ag.com are still looking for other ways of making this happen. This includes, but certainly not limited to, trying to get established car clubs with pre-existing insurance policies to allow us to piggyback their policy. Whatever way it might happen, we are still trying to make something happen. But right now there is nothing planned. I apologize for this. I understand how badly we all have been wanting such an event in this region.

The number of people that have contacted me and are serious about doing an event like this has been outstanding. There is no doubt in my mind that this could be a big success. But with the limited access to suitable areas this leaves only so many places appropriate to do this. Appropriate to me means large enough to handle a large number of people in different areas doing different things all at the same time without getting close enough to each other to possibly cause an accident. Maximum seat time for everybody has been my goal. So far, Bremerton Raceway seems to be ideal for something like this. Unfortunately most weekends are reserved by other clubs well ahead of time. This brings me back to trying to get in with a club that has access to the track and plenty of insurance. Getting with another group would make this happen 100X easier. Selling the idea to clubs that are primarily interested in autocross and the like will be the hard part. Hopefully they will have the foresight to see a future in events like this.

I'd like to thank everybody so far. For your patience and positve feedback. I'm sorry if I haven't replied to anybody's e-mail about this. There have been many. Thank you all.

Good to see you found your way over here! So have you gotten your hybrid turbo on yet?

Jerk_Racer 11-26-2002 06:18 AM

Umm, nope. It's not on yet. It makes a great conversation starter sitting in my room with the rest of the parts for this project. I want to try to pull my head out of my dupa and get this done (finally) by Jan 26th. Why then? First autoX of the year. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/boink.gif

All that extra power and racing in the rain (it's always sloppy there that time of year) = FUN!

Have I seen you up here before?

Jerk_Racer 11-26-2002 06:10 PM

OK, who let this post ***** in here? :smirk: Darn moderators with their big ol' post counts.

I was on here a long time ago when there were only a few hundred or so registered users. It was a bit slow at the time and I just sort of forgot about it. Most forums that I've been on that have been small and slow seem to disappear overnight no matter their potential. I didn't want to get wrapped up in one again that would do that. Then last week Dragon tells me to check it out. Boy, this place has grown! Last time I saw jspecracer7 in Japan he was wearing a nopistons T-shirt. This site is getting around.
