Looks cool! https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/bigok.gif I'm glad you got it all organized. I'll come to watch, I don't think the vert would be too much fun to drive, being that it can't break the tires loose. Did you make it out to the auto x last sunday? If so I must have missed you. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/dunno.gif |
Hey sucker, I wasn't asking you to click it. I WAS TELLING YOU TO!!! https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/angry.png
Nah, both of my cars are down for the count. The 7 isn't getting fuel for some reason and the 240SX is still waiting for a full wiring harness set. Until then I'm using my roommates second car get around. It's a crusty Tercel. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...O_DIR#>/11.gif I swear I'll have my 7 for this event. |
So you are saying i wont be able to run because im not in any of the clubs? boooo... thats lame!
|
Yep, but them's the breaks. I tried to have it open for everybody but all I could get were guest drivers. For less than the price of a tank of gas you could have been in the club too. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...R#>/tongue.png If I never joined one this event would never have happened. Clubs are good.

well how do i join! ass! https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683246.gif

Why, I'm glad you asked. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png The next meeting is June 6th. Sure, it's after the event. But being in TS is worth it for some of the members only events once in a while. This is my third year going to autocrosses but only this year I've started branching out to the local race community. It's been good to me so far.
I've been a member of Bremerton Sports Car Club since I started autoX'ing. Why? Because I go there very often. $4 less per event, 1st crack at special events, and $25 off lapping days. I've got my money's worth from that membership that for sure. Being a member of TS is looking to be good too. But I've only been a member for four months. |
Sounds like a lot of fun, I'll be there. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/bigok.gif
Do you have any rough ideas how many people will be participating? |
No idea yet. Between the two clubs and their one guest per club member, I'd say about 40 or so. Which is fine by me. Being new to organizing events, there might be some hiccups. At least with this small group there will be less pissed off people at me if stuff goes wrong. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...DIR#>/wink.png After this event I think I'll be able to put on a full blown event with a lot more people.
There's no pre-registration so I can't really know until the day come. Less people = more seat time. Each person is going to be out on the course a lot longer than they will be for an autocross and depending on how things go there might only be one person out there at a time. Ehhhh, we'll see. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/dunno.gif |
Holy mother of pearl are you guys going to think I'm the biggest f'n flake. Guess what? It's bad news. I was just told by the president of BEAC (the club that allow events at Boeing) can not allow spectators. Word of this has spread fast and far enough that he heard about it. It's their insurance. From what he said, SCCA and WWSCC events are insured as "non-spectator events". This requires everyone on site to sign the waiver as "participants". Non-participants are spectators and they are not insured for that. It would have been nice if I was told of this when I was talking with him last week and worked out the details of who could come and if people could come by and watch. I know I've been to plenty of other events up there and spectators were always there but just not in large numbers. All I can do here is retract this thread. The event is still happening for those that can go, but for everybody else this is a dark day indeed.
I'm truly sorry. Once again the insurance issue kills everything. I don't know who here remembers the Drift Event I was putting together last year, but that was all ready to go but getting the insurance was the only problem. I've tried to get something going for this region for a long time, but these issues keep it down. Mark my words - I will have more of these events. In the future I will try to find a location that does not restrict non-members from participating. But once again, I'm sorry. Go on and hate me. I let you all down and I'm hating life right about now. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/angry.png |
I hate you!! FLAKE!! LOL! https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683785.gif
That really sucks. I wanted to watch. Is there any loop-holes to where we'd be able to come watch? |
By the SCCA's insurance, as long as all of the people ON THE EVENT SITE (pits, grid, course, staging, etc) have signed the waiver, then it is still a non-spectator event. To be sure, you should use some form of separating the event site, either yellow caution tape, or something similar, and make sure that any place that the "spectators" can be is both well out of the way of any vehicles and also a public area. Your other option with this being a non-spectator event is to have someone posted at the entrance to the lot, and have everyone sign waivers.
I've dealt with the SCCA insurance / spectator issues more than I care to think about. Over the last few years, I was assistant RE for 3 years and responsible for the insurance, as well as an SCCA SoloII Safety Steward for the last 4 years. Travis |
Thanks, but it goes beyond just the insurance. BTW, the insurance is not SCCA's. SCCA has nothing to do with this. I was just told that they abide by the same rules asI am being held to. The insurance is through BEAC. They are the group that is letting us use the site and they had informed me, in addition to the insurance, that I do not have the authority to invite people to the Boeing facility which is private property.
I had the waivers for people to sign. I was under the direct impression that this was covered last time I spoke with BEAC that spectators were welcome. There was going to be plenty of room for seperation. There is no place that people can stop to watch this in a public area. It was all set to go after I spoke with BEAC on Wednesday of last week. Why the change? I'm not 100% sure. I was told some reasons but I feel that there is more to it than what I was told. All in all, I'm quite upset about this. I am in no position to argue what I was told. It's their way or the highway on this. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/angry.png |
Well that kinda sucks, but at least the event is happening. Maybe my TII will be running by next time https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...>/rolleyes.gif you never know, lol.

Maybe mine too.
|
Damn, what's up with us? We all got broken turbo 7s. Must be a Seattle thing. lol! Maybe if we put all of our parts together, we could net 1 working car.
|
Maybe. Too bad it's not just a Seattle thing. This is the 2nd or 3rd time in three years than my car hasn't been able to be used on a daily basis. Last time it was a split stock oil cooler line. My injectors are f'ed up the goat ass. They're stuck open. I guess they could only take so much. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...DIR#>/ohmy.png But the engine keeps on going.
Once I can get two more 720cc inj. I'll replace all four 550cc stockers. Then it'll be back on the road (after some quality time getting tuned on the dyno at Intec). https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png |
So you are not going to be able to run in the Gymkhana? Or do you think it'll be fixed by then?
|
I'll probably be driving something else. Not sure what it'll be yet. Either a Porsche 914 or a S13 with a SR20DET swap.
|
So how did it go?
|
It went f'n great! I was too busy and did not get a chance to drive, but it was fun as hell to watch when I had the time to do so. Everybody loved it. Event the diehard seasoned autocrossers. At first those guys were very apprehensive, but after the first run they were loving it. We fucked that parking lot up! If you're in the neighboorhood, check out lot E-4 (off the Seaway exit on 526) at Boeing. Nothing but tires, baby! https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683785.gif The average time around the course was about 1:50 or so. Everybody was able to get four runs in and many got eight because they stayed all day. About 30 drivers attended which was not too bad. Any more than 50 and we would have been there all night.
The next one will be better. I have to figure out how to let everybody in on it. Next one indeed. |
Good to hear thing went well. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/bigok.gif I've been meaning to ask you how it went.
