Nah, seriously though, I've wanted to go watercooled for years. Haven't overclocked anything since my athlon 800 years ago...

Hey Allan...you feel ancient? I am rocking a PII 366! https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png

That is ok though it is enough to control my microtech though and that is all that matters.

Next year I am going Mac...yes I said it!

mindfunk13 02-08-2006 01:02 AM

wow no bs, home honey im high lol

mindfunk13 02-08-2006 01:06 AM

oh and i am sure you know that processor speed is no longer the bottleneck, my sempron 3200 still waxes alot higher processor systems cause i got all my **** hooked up optimally. 800 fsb 1/2 tarabite hd space,raid0

but that wattercooling just makes me nervouse. a leak could be devestating

Kouta 02-11-2006 09:13 PM

yeah hard drives are really the bottleneck nowdays until you can get it all loaded up to ram then stuff is fast...

my compy is about 2 years old save for the video card which i upgrade about every 9-12 months

it still does what i want it to do and i can play my games all with high settings at 1280x1024

flight_of_pain 02-12-2006 03:18 AM

SATA raid stripe solves the HDD bottleneck :P

Greetings everyone!

I just joined nopistons today and am trying to find my way around the forum. I've been a member at the other rotory site for some time, but decided to see what all the fuss is about over here.

I hail from WA State and I drive an 88 Turbo-II.

For those of you who couldn't make the Pineapple Racing Tech day on Saturday you truely missed out.

I'll try to upload some pics and vids of the event, but this being my first post I'll have to see if I'm capable in figuring out where and how to post em... https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683664.gif NOOB-LOL!

Codeblue 02-23-2006 09:23 PM

I don't think youll see me at to many events..... I dont have a Mazda and really don't plan on getting one. I do have a piston powerd VW Bug that I have been looking to replace the motor in, and after months of looking, the roto is the only one I concider to be worth anything. (and thats a lot from a Chevy man)

So I am here to get the technical knowledge on the engine that I have fallen in love with.

Not sure if someone has the link but there is a company that makes an adapter for rotarys to fit to the VW transaxel also if I remember correctly i think you have to split the transaxal case and flip the ring gear and carrior because the rotary turns the other direction, don't qoute me on this but I'm sure that someone on here would know more than me. Start your own Thread titled "Rotary to VW conversion Questions" do it both here and in some of the other sections and see what kind of responce you get. Also use the search tool at the top of the page and see what you get. As for not owning a rotary I can't speek for the people on the westside of the mountains but I'm almost sure they think the same way we do here on the eastside "If you like rotarys, your welcome at any of our events". I've found out alot of information at these events so take advantage of them.

They all say that in the beginning...........Just drink the kool-aid, and everything will be fine.

genrex 07-11-2006 03:18 AM

Black 6, check out www.shoptalkforums.com -- they have a forum called Conversion Perversions, and the members have lots of experience with this conversion.

KEP (Kennedy Engineering) makes the adapter. If you use a stock 1969-and-later Bug transmission and axles, and a KEP Stage 1 clutch with stock disc, you can run up to 140 hp. If you run more power than that, then you'll need to reinforce the internals of the trans, and get a stronger clutch. 140 hp in an IRS Bug calculates out to 14.3 sec @ 98 mph in the quarter-mile. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/BURNOUT.gif

BLACK 6 07-11-2006 06:56 PM

This is a duplicate of my post on another section of the board. I am highly impressed with what the Japanese did to improve on the German invention (took it to new levels that were not even dreamed of by the inventor). And I can honestly say that I do not know why it doesnt get used more. But I am not really into sports cars or ubber fast ones either, after sitting on a skid doing 90+knots (103.68 mph) in the number 1 position doing nap of the earth, sports cars are kinda boreing.

The body will be replaced with a 1960 body and a split window installed. The motor will be changed out to a 12A N/A in basically stock form. Does this sound challenging enough? Well I am not through yet. I am not sure if any of you are familiar with VW history so I will give a brief lesson. The first "suv" ever made was the type 87 Kommendeurwagen. It used the Kubelwagen chassis using the Schwimmwagen part-time (first gear only) four-wheel-drive system, and put a bug top on it. Only about 650+/- were made. So you guessed it, I am making mine a 4x4 (and not the easy way of dropping an axle in the front) It will look like an old Type 87 (with modern upgrades) and will be a daily driver (including going deep into the woods)

I love the kool-aid comment, reminds me of some friends.....

Well not new but returning from job change.. I now work at the company that sells our best Japan rival the Z, but I am still a rotor head and just got back from my Annual SCCA tech inpection today. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.gif

Plan to campaign my GTUs in Track Trials ITS again and this time go to Reno for the Championships!

BTW I won ITE Regional TT Championship last year beating out a Porsche 928 by 2 seasonal points! https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683431.gif

So good to finally be back... will make an Izzy's meet or 2 and hope to Autocross some, too. I owe a couple folks a team drive in my car..
