Any one around baltimore have a damper puller / installer kit I could borrow. I need to pull the damper off an LS1 engine and drill some holes in the crank for pins. If anyone has some free time and wants to help out I'll buy the beer. Anyone know a good machine shop around here that can cut a key way in the stock damper.

my roomate has a 98 TA and he does his work at some Fbody shop across town, I will find out if they have that tool. Most that likely that they do.

that would be sweet, let me know.

LS1?
I thought you were gonna do a 3 rotor? |
I sold out and went with a v8. Over heating is an issue with the car being a mid engine and I don't think a 3 rotor would have worked well.

mark, my roomate says that when he did his, he used a 4in 3 prong gear puller and it worked fine. Just making sure we are on the same page, you are talking about the harmonic balancer yeah?
|
he also says be careful to not damage the seal

I friend of mine had a crazy snap on puller that worked. And yes I was talking about the harmonic balancer / main pully. On the ls1 they are the same piece. Good news the pully is off, holes where drilled, all I have left is to get a machine shop to cut a keyway in the pully so it will slide back over the pins.

Mark PM me if you need something to machine out.

cafe,
Do you work at a machine shop? Where is it located? I already took the pully to coleman machine, but I am sure I will need more stuff done in the near future. mark |
