Anyone near Rockville, MD have an HKS external wastegate (Racing preferred but regular or GT OK too) on a shelf somewhere that I can run a simple pressure test on? It will only take 5 minutes and won't hurt it in any way https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png

Thanks,

Brian

Yeah I'm having some boost issues with my car and I want to know what happens when you apply pressure with a Mityvac hand pump to the boost side port. I don't want to use an air compressor because it delivers too much volume.. I want small volume.

Mine leaks the pressure out very very fast and I have a hard time even building up 2-3 psi... I want to know if that's 100% normal or what.

Well I got this figured out. I know you guys are so interested https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png

Turns out that even a brand new one leaks like mine does now but not as badly. I did some more testing on mine and determined that it is leaking around the hole where the plunger stem passes through to connect to the diaphragm. Think of having a bad valve guide on a boinger and you've got the right idea.

So for now, I'm just letting it overboost to 14 psi or so and it seems to catch itself there.

overboost to 14 psi? Come on now https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683664.gif

Heh, it's useful to be able to limit it to 10-11 PSI... the car is enough of a handful on road courses even without the extra HP from 14-15 PSI https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png

I have to agree that it is definetly a nice thing to be able to control boost.
