I got a 10 point from S&W and I sat in the garage saturday trying to figure something out.

It is a simple welding question that I am sure someone has the anwser too.

Here it goes:

How do you weld the top of the front A pillar bars to the halo?

The way I look at it the main hoop I can weld to the halo by leaning it forward. For the rear bars I can reach the top easily.

The really issue comes in when I think about the front bars, how can I weld the top side of the bars and still keep the halo high near the headliner. Obviously if I take the headliner out I will have a little more room but is it enough to get to the top of the pipe to make a good strong weld?

Any tricks??

One other question is where the door brace and A pillar post meet at the firewall, how do you get to the frontside (nearest the firewall) to weld it to the floor plate? I want to have it as close to the firewall as possible.

Any tips or tricks anyone can give me??

i think the easiest way to weld the Halo/A-pillar connection requires removing the windshield.... Thats what they are doing on mine.

if you are welding the cage to the floor then the easy way to do it is this.........................determine where the main hoop and front legs are going to end up then mark the floor accordingly, use a holesaw to cut a hole in these positions, place your spreader plates(base plates for the cage) over the holes then assemble the cage and give it a good tack weld together so it doesnt move,

next take out the spreader plates and lower the cage through the holes onto the floor, you can now weld it up very easy.

when your finished welding lift the cage back up, slip the spreader plates under the bars then weld the bars to the plates and the plates to the floor!!
