These guys from my school are taking a bike trip across the country to raise money for the Shriners/children's hospitals. http://www.roadshowusa.org I was thinking it would be cool to do the same type thing, but with a bunch of 7's driving from coast to coast. Along the way we could hold mini-car-shows at some of the hospitals and let the kids check out our rides and stuff...I think it would brighten their days. Getting sponsorship probably wouldn't be too tough, either. Maybe even Mazda would help out...it would be great publicity for them.

It's just a crazy thought right now, but with some effort, it could be possible.

j9fd3s 06-02-2003 03:02 PM

hmm, its so crazy it just might work

UniqueTII 06-02-2003 03:08 PM

I'm counting you in, then. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/bigok.gif The only problem is that there would be a hole in the ozone following us.

vosko 06-02-2003 03:46 PM

hmm that sounds cool!

UniqueTII 06-02-2003 03:49 PM

If we get enough interest, we should plan it for next summer. We start on the west coast and end up at Rotorfest!

Of course, some people would only be on part of it, so we could get sponsorships per mile, rather than for the whole trip.

Joe Flo 06-02-2003 04:11 PM

Umm.....So who is gonna drive the Tow Truck cause I know most of the cars wont make it that far https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...O_DIR#>/11.gif

TYSON 06-02-2003 09:55 PM

Srce 06-02-2003 11:49 PM

Gas money mega expensive yo!

FrestyleFC3S 06-03-2003 12:25 AM

ill go...

FDokinawa 06-03-2003 04:19 AM

If it's next summer... I'm down.. could give me a chance to sell my car.. **** I would even donate some(1-2K) to the cause if I do...

phinsup 06-03-2003 04:43 AM

OK a little more thought to this, this is how I am invisioning this, I know many are possibly concerned about drinving the distance, time off work etc... but with enough people in each state, we could map this out so that if one wanted to they would only drive a state or two, 2 days of work, like passing the torch almost.

Is that a more feasible plan? Granted some would still go the whole duration, but not all would have to, to participate.

Just and idear.

UniqueTII 06-03-2003 04:49 AM

That's what I was thinking. I would want to go the whole way, but I'm sure most people aren't as loco as I am, so even if someone wanted to come along for ~100 miles, they'd be welcome. I'd personally like to stop at some children's hospitals along the way, so if someone only wanted to come meet up with us there, that would be fine too. I can just imagine how happy it'd make the kids to have their own personal sports car show.

phinsup 06-03-2003 04:53 AM

Yea we could toy drive it too, pack the cars up with some toys, you know hand them out to the kids at the hospitals.

treceb 06-03-2003 07:02 AM

we could meet at rx7revolution. it takes place somewhere in the middle...

UniqueTII 06-03-2003 02:15 PM

I'm thinking we could also have entertainment in each city we stop in, to raise more money. My dad is a comedian, and he'd give a show for donations. I'm sure we could find bands and stuff too.

I was thinking that, but the problem there is that (at least this year) I have school that time of year, so it wouldn't work for me. Maybe I could talk to Mich and see what's up for next year. I want this cruise to be in July or early August, and that might be later than he wants his event.

Srce 06-03-2003 09:27 PM

Ah hell, **** the gas money, I'd be in too. You can count on me Ed, I can be in Iowa in 6 hours, LOL!

UniqueTII 06-04-2003 04:10 AM

You've got a year to save up the gas money. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png

CoolAl 06-04-2003 08:45 AM

https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683473.gif Thats a great idea. I would be willing to drive from northern california.

Turbo II 06-05-2003 05:14 PM

UniqueTII 06-05-2003 06:00 PM

I have school in September.

Rotarydragon 06-13-2003 09:22 AM

Hey if the BMW Z3 owners can do it why can't we? I don't remember the site but there's a BMW dealership that does free maintenace on your Z3 if you bring a trunkfull of food/toys/etc for the local shelters. They do it once a year it works pretty well.

MazdaEnthused 06-15-2003 11:51 AM

i would be more then happy to do that with my stock 7 not much to look at but it would be cool but i gotta come from Illinois like a couple of us do

SeventyMach1 07-08-2003 12:16 AM

So, are there N E plans as of yet? I know they'll not let me off @ work...but screw em'. I'll make up something. I'd rather inspire the kids. And fellowship in person w/ other owners. If you're comin' this way, I don't guess I'll be goin' too far. I'm thinkin' about goin' to rotorfest in September, though. I didn't know it was in Irvine, CA. I was just there last week while on deployment. I took a nice long tour of Steve Saleen's shop. Saleen & Rotorfest in the same town.....HEAVEN?

boosted12a 07-14-2003 02:50 AM

im likein this idea. time off should be no problem. west to east wouldnt work well for me. but meeting in the middle would be cool.
