So I was in the nissan camp and now I've switched teams. Don't get me pegged as one of those retards that got into RWD becuase of Initial D. I don't drift, I would like to get into Auto-X and Solo. Anyway I have an opportunity to purchuse a FC. And I'm here on this forum to do some recon.

Anyone else here from MA?

Also can anyone fill me in on this engine codes and chassis codes... like REW and S4, S5 all that stuff, that would be really helpful

thanks guys

Seppuku 10-03-2006 11:45 PM

s4 is a 86-88 FC, s5 is 89-91 fc, REW is the motor from FD which is 93+

Baldy 10-04-2006 03:31 PM

FC being the second generation RX-7, 86-91; FD the twin turbo car, latest model RX-7, in case that wasn't obvious. Welcome to nopistons!

Okay so I have someone who is going to sell me a NA Shell for pretty cheap. He also has an NA engine that out of the car. Here are my questions

1, How much do the NA engines put out? And what is the potential for a NA engine.

2, How much do the TII and the REW put out.

3, It is suggested that the rear is swapped out if I do a transplant. Are TII rearends assessiable? how much do they run?

4, How much power can the NA read ends take?

Once again thanks in advance.

TII driveline is recomended, But the N/A takes more than people give credit for. Depends on how grippy your tires are and how you drive.

What part of MA are you from?

I'll be in Newton/Waltham Area next month I'm up in NY for business....

so what do you think the limit is on the NA rears..

also what are the power-ratings for the NA engine,TII, and REW

RONIN FC 10-05-2006 03:54 PM

Id say about 300 rwhp could be pushing the limit.

N/A: 150-160 hp

TII: 190 hp

REW: 230(ish) hp

These are stock numbers, The turbo engines have a similar max potential for power.

Couple other engine codes for you:

13bt- 87-91 Turbo II motor, easily recognizable by the Coolant Filler Neck. 87-88 is metal, 89-91 is plastic.

13b- 86-91 N/A Motor. The 13b also came in REPU's, RX-3's, and other older rotary powered cars, but they were 4-port and not the 6-port that the FC uses.

13b-RE- JDM FD Motor. The largest intake ports is on this motor, good setup for any type of car, and people are constantly swapping them into FB's, FCs', and FD's. Some people are taking it even further and putting them into pre RX-7 rotaries.

Welcome to nopistons, you have been thrown into an addiction!
