Hi, I have been searching for a car. The older rx-7's crossed my eye, but I wanted to know if the engines were reliable and fairly simple to fix. It would be my first vehicle. My whole family is in the car business, but my dad said he didn't think anyone in town would be able to fix it if it messed up. Sorry if i posted this in the wrong spot, thanks

the older naturally aspirated engines will run forever if you take care of them, the newer turbo engines will too you just have to be more careful not to run it lean. as far as working on it it depends on how much mechanical experience you have. depending on where you're at in missouri i've heard of quite a few rx-7's in st. louis but don't know if there are any shops there.

I agree, n/a engines will last a long time if maintained.



As for the differences between an n/a fuel injected car and your regular 4-cylinder fuel injected car, diagnosis and repair is pretty much the same thing. The only difference regarding regular maintenance that would matter is the intake system, the auxiliary intake system.



I had very little prior mechanical experience before I got my FC, and I found it fairly easy to work on using the Haynes manual, online factory service manual, and asking questions here.

Normally-aspirated rotaries do not deserve the bad rep they have with Joe Average. Take care to warm it up gently in the mornings, and it'll last just fine.
