Hi everyone,

Just introducing myself. My name's Jon Smithers, I work for a hydrographics supplier and production shop here in Tyler, TX.

I've owned my 1990 240SX hatchback for many years, I've had CA18s, SR20s, turbo KA24s, and an RB25DET. I'm now setting my sights on something a little more.. rotary.. and I need somewhere to come and learn everything I can about them!



I've got some very burning questions, and I'm anxious to get started on building my rotary dream. It will be a weekend/track day car only, so I'm not worried about reliabilty/people bitching about rotaries because they "blow apex seals all the time" or whatever other stupid **** people bash them for. They are absolutely ingeniously designed, and I can't wait to feel the difference on the drift track and on the road course when I've successfully swapped my new rotary. Im planning on spending at least a year on the build, and I look forward to probably many bashings for combining the rock solid and absolutely fantastically designed S-chassis with a cool, rev-happy rotary.

Also just an FYI, there's a rotary shop due west of you in garland. They usually build rotary drag cars, but their drag launch kit drastically improved my cornering ability by tightening up the rear end quite a bit.

Yeah, another TX Rotorhead! Welcome to nopistons. Too bad Texas is so damn big! I would like to meet some of the other rotary drivers out here.

Lol there are a few fd's up in Wichita falls where I used to live. Rotary performance is based out of garland (suburb on east side of Dallas) and they seem to always have their bays full of 7's

I too am a Nissan guy, but I'll be keeping that and getting a second toy.

First off Welcome to the forum!



Now I don't think anyone noticed that you said you were wanting to put the rotary in the Nissan S-chassis (240SX). I think it's a fairly good idea & if I recall it has been done in a S13 & S14 shells. A shop called Defined Autoworks has a S14(1997) with a Half Bridge 13B on a GT35r. http://www.definedautoworks.com/



Now I'm taking it as you are doing the S13 since you stated you have owned the 1990 240SX & you have used a various assortment of Nissan powerplants, moving on to a rotary swap right?

Yessir, I've had all kinds of things in the 240sx. The rotary seemed like a fun next step.

I'm trying to decide whether to just boost the **** out of a two rotor, or go to all the trouble and effort and (money, ha) to build a three rotor.

They just sound so damn good..
