Hi,
Just thought I'd tell you a bit about my car. I'm design a racecar/kitcar with a mid-mounted rotary, in the LMP style. I've got a 13B from a Series 2 (NA) but have left room for a 3 rotor, or (dare I say it) a 4 rotor (in case I win the lottery) If there is anyone else on here with a similar project it'd be interesting to here from you. I got almost to rolling chassis stage with my first design but wanted to then alter too many things, so decided to redesign the whole lot again. I'll post some pics soon if anyone's interested. Rob |
Welcome to nopistons, post some pics!

Wow- that sounds like a fun project - post up pics.

That sounds cool. Pics when your ready.

I'd be interested to see this too! Be interesting to see what route you're taking with the running gear/gearbox/etc. Post up the gory details!

Ok here are a few CAD images of the project so far. Some parts are lacking detail atm and there's alot more part still to think about, but I'll get there one day!
Whole car- body transparent Front Suspension Rear end Inanimate Object- you were wondering about the running gear? Well, at the moment I plan on using the Audi 01E or 016 transaxle mated to the engine by an aluminium adapter plate. This also bolts to the chassis to act as the main mount. The 01E should be good for 350-400bhp but the 20b will just be in stock form to start with so gearbox should be fine. I'm just hoping that the flywheel will fit in the bellhousing, it's going to be tight. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683561.gif Thanks Rob |
Cool, looks like a really fun build/car - you doing the body yourself? fair bit of work there... I knew the Audi box was good for high hp engines, just had no idea it could take that much!
