Just picked up a clean & un-bastardized GTUs for SCCA Solo 2 & NASA HPDE events. My last, and currently for sale, car is a '94 Mustang Cobra. Although fun, that damn Cobra was soooo damn heavy and eventhough I spend thousands - it's still an understeering pig of a car. If I drag raced, it'd be great...but I want to become a fast driver and not just own a fast car.
As far as racing goes, I'm kinda going blind into the RX7...it should be fun though! Its going to be a bit strange at first driving a momentum car. The Cobra was a very 'toss it, point & shoot' car and would fall on its face above 5500 rpm. Apexes would either be fast or I'd overcook it and be as slow and look as ugly as a Pinto. Overweight and underpowered...especially for Street Mod. Future mods will just be a K&N element in the stock box, a new front bar, Koni yellows and some 710's, basic E-Stock stuff. When the 710s cord, I'll assess my situation and move to STS2 or stay in a stock class. Former pushrod driver, Carlo |
Welcome to nopistons.com! Hopefully you find all the info you need here. Got any pics of the car?

Thank you for the warm welcome.
I may start a website for my RX-7 build (not really a build but a stock suspension overhaul) and include in-car video from autoX & HPDE events. Maybe even a, dare I say, BLOG on driving and servicing experiences in comparision to my Cobra. Think of it as amatuer racing a FC3 for dummies. Anyone have any other ideas for a RX-7 site for racing newbies? Are there any already out there? -Carlo |
