How you guys doin? Im look for any info on the 2nd gen rx7 that can be given.

I'v been looking into getting a sports car that is rear wheel drive to get into autocrossing and along with the RX7 I have also looked into the 240sx and some Toyotas and have come to an end with my searchs on both because it seems it is a lot EZr to find the info on them then it is on the rx7.

What Im looking for is engine codes, what motor came in what and so on. Because for REAL POWER from the nissans and toys you need to do a jap motor swap. From the little info I do have the RX7 has good stock power out of the box in "US" trim. And getting the most for my cash is #1

Any web sites with good "how to" info and rotary info links will be great!

Thanks for your time.

well, wait a while and the guys in here will give you tons of good info.. RX7's have been know to be good for autocrossing because they can be made fast, for relatively cheap.. and give more expensive cars a run for their money.. Jims5543 autocrosses his turboII.. and there are a few other members in here that do.. J9fd3s also is a great guy to get info from.. unless he didnt have his coffee in the mornin.. then he is just bland..

You do mean his 13b-REW TII right? Hehe.

RX-7's are good for autocrossing, especially 2nd gen from what I am told because of the 50/50 ratio of power to weight. You might get a 51/49 or 49/51. I have a bone stock 88 Sport with a 1.3L 6-port Fuel Injected 13b. It is pretty "peppy" for being a 16 year old car. It only get it's real power from 3000rpm to about 6500 rpm, maybe 7000 rpm. It has very horrible low end torque, but once you go past 3000rpm you start to feel it. Especially if you get a TII.

TII is the turbo charged version of the 1.3L 13b. I don't know if it came in the 6 port or not. But the only other option it would be is 4 port. TII's experience low mileage blow ups, vacuum leaks. I don't know much about the TII's since I don't have one. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png

They are fun cars, and you will be addicted to it.

All you need to really do to a 2nd gen is a streetport, header, cat back exhaust setup, a full suspension setup, a Limited Slip Diffy, and good tires, and you can kill just about everything on the autocrossing tracks. It is expensive, but the looks on peoples faces are priceless when they ask what size engine it is. You just tell them 1.3L and there jaw drops to the floor.

Hope this helps. More people will add in I am sure, and people will flame me for this.

Good Luck.
