hi everyone, just checking in. my name is Rich and i have a '93 MB Touring 5-spd. i didn't take the necessary precautions when i was buying her, so now i get to deal with a blown coolant seal after less than 200 miles of light driving. lesson learned! she'll be going under the knife soon and during the surgery i'll be changing the tan interior to black, among many other smaller projects. anyway, here she is:

Attachment 20115

Current Mods:

Efini Y-Pipe

Ported JDM downpipe

Pettit AST

Viton vacuum hoses w/ Tefzel zip ties

Viton check valves

Removed AWS, EGR, double throttle, and stereo

2nd and 3rd headlight covers (now with JB Weld reinforced mounting tabs)

Future Plans:

Rebuild engine

PFS (or similar) cat-back exhaust

A'PEXi dual intakes

Nippon Denso fuel pump

Battery relocation w/ kill switch

Radiator fan control

Momo Sphere shift knob

Momo Race steering wheel

Black interior

Defi BF gauges

Blitz turbo Timer

it'll be a long and expensive bit of work, but she should be ready to go late spring. after that nice long list is finished, i'll start upgrading everything else, like a PFC, intercooler, radiator, and going single turbo.

Welcome to nopistons! Well at least you'll know for sure the condition of the engine, after you have it rebuilt.

thanks guys

i'm pretty sure it's a coolant seal issue. mostly because i can hear coolant pour into the engine when it first turns over and starts to idle. the rest of the engine *should* be in good condition. i never drove her much, and never pushed her hard, so the coolant issue shouldn't have caused anything else to go wrong. i did do a little bit of driving in it and she pulled just fine and all, so i'm not too worried.

Welcome to the club! Sorry to hear about your car though....I learned (well, still learning) that lesson about not taking all the precautions when buying....mine is currently under the knife & taking its toll on the wallet! Like Baldy said though at least you will know the state that your engine is in when it is all said and done with.
