Hello everyone, After running with a friend in a first gen in high school, I've always wanted one, The Rotary... My friend never understood it even though he drove it every day, when he let me drive it he would yell at me. "Shift.. SHIFT!!!" and I was only at 4500 RPMs... things have changed and now I got my favorite body style... CHEAP.
I was on craigslist (good ol' Craig) bought a Jetski for $150 had it running 1 hour later. that's a different story.. while he was getting the title for it he let us in his garage, what caught my eye first I thought was a Porche, and getting closer realized it was a nice S5 hiding in his garage. I told him, Nice car, (I didn't want to sound too excited) I asked him, so does it run? "Yes", "battery is probably low" He put a charger on it and it started right up. I was surprised, "um, how long has it been in here?" "since '01 I parked it" "bought it from a friend, we couldn't fix it tried new ECU.. among other things.." "so it's broke? but it idles perfect". Him: "I don't know what's wrong" Me: "well.. so.. would you be willing to sell it?" "Yeah it's sat here too long.. I need room in my garage". "So how much? I mean it's not working right" "well I wanted 3000, but since it's not running right maybe 1000?" I gasped. Ok let me think about it I said, I gotta ask the wife. He found I was a computer tech as well, his friends computer (emachine) blew up that night. so he had me replace the motherboard, cpu, RAM and Power Supply and reinstall windows and knocked the car down to $800.
I believe the error code was 31, OMP issue. I think I found the problem, am waiting on a bolt to put it back on now and try it.
