So I see a about a 2001 Corolla S. As I pass him he gives me the fart can rev. So I'm like ok then. We get up to the next light and take off from a stand still. First gear was all good then in second this fool started pulling away from me. I'm no expert or anything but I defintiely knew he had more than just a CAI and exhaust. A 90 GXL vs 01 Corolla S. hmmm. let's think about this one. I did a little research and found out he weighs in at 2400 lbs. and with his ricer stuff probably about 140 hp. With my CAI to make 155 hp and factory weight of 2800 lbs. I know now why I ate ****. His third gear started pulling really hard and didn't get a chance to go any further because of a car but I know he would have kept creepin away. It sucks so I guess I'm going to start doing some weight reduction and get the Haltech to help out the situation. I'm just not sure where I should begin reducing because I still have to have emissions and A/C. It's Texas... it's hot... enough said. Oh where to begin. Can't lose the fat girl cause I ain't got one, can't lose the rear seat either, and sure can't blame it on wind drag cause everything was closed. Damn the bad luck. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683358.gif

CrassFC3S 06-17-2005 01:29 AM

2800??? i dont think fc's weigh that much bud unless youre REAL fat hahaha yeah sorry but a stock n/a isnt very fast

drunkin_idiot 06-17-2005 03:23 AM

Ya, sorry, Na's are slow as ****.

playincrzy 06-17-2005 06:39 PM

oh yeah the title says 2700 but that's still not comparable. I plan on upgrading to a single turbo setup within this year hopefully; none of this upgrading to a turbo II nonsense. Mine as well go all out if i plan to do it. I'm not doggin ya if you have a turbo II though, you'd beat my ass. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png just gotta wait on a settlement of 5 G's. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/BURNOUT.gif

rowtareh 06-17-2005 10:38 PM

Heh, Corolla S is a pretty quick car. And they don't look bad either.

please see the swap threads, you need to swap the engine and drivetrain, cheaper to buy a TII unless you have some godly clean body.

CrassFC3S 06-18-2005 02:58 AM

hahaha playincrzy this is the best place in the world for knowledge if you come here with an open mind, to do a "single turbo" which implies (in most cases) it was at one point twin turbo is wrong lol to turbo your 6-port n/a is ALOT more trouble and money than just doing the t2 swap, either way youre buying the whole drivetrain and instead of a standalone and tuning you can be stock for a bit for a fraction of the cost, the t2 is single turbo (sorry if that sounds mean it sounded like you didnt know this by your post) and its fairly affordable, after owning 2 n/a's i know theyre fun and pretty quick against cars in its age range and price level but its not gonna beat a brand new car... sorry.

spaceman Spiff 06-18-2005 11:20 AM

it could beat a corrola s probobly they arent that fast an 1.8t GTI walks them pretty hard.

CrassFC3S 06-18-2005 12:53 PM

well yeah a 1.8t will walk a n/a corolla but were talking about a 1991 n/a rx7 with no mods

spaceman Spiff 06-19-2005 12:12 AM

yea i just got the feeling that u were saying it would be close between a TII and the corolla but i guess not then. haha my bad

CrassFC3S 06-19-2005 01:23 AM

hahaha hell no a t2 would spank on a corolla s man, but n/a is weak lol

playincrzy 06-19-2005 01:47 AM

You guys are crazy https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png . Yeah I'll end swappin technically but really nothing will be stock compared to turbo II equipment. I guess the only thing you really could say that would be "stock" would be the actual engine minus the "guts". I'm not sure if any of you live around the Garland, TX area but if you do give me a shout. My brother and I are starting to work on some rides in his garage at home. We've got some major equipment available to us. We're pretty much turning the garage into a "shop". I know not everyone has the luxury of some equipment. I've also got the hookup with David from MarvelSpeed that is located in Garland. One last thing, since my brother is the store manager of O'Reillys, he's managed to be a sponsor of a car show out in Rowlett. The next meeting will be July 8th at the Albertsons parking lot off of Rowlett Road and 66 (Forest Lane). It is free to be there and check stuff out but it is, I think, $10 to enter your car if you chose. Prizes are givin away like trophies and t-shirts and stuff along with a 50/50 money pot (available to everyone that purchases the raffle tickets). Half goes to the winner of the raffle and the other to a good cause (different charities). Everyone is invited. They also have quite a few American Muscle cars. The last few shows have had about 50 cars. The show usually starts around 5 or 6 and the prizes are givin away in the 9 o'clock hour. The judges are all the entry participants, it's based on "your vote". hope to see ya there.

CrassFC3S 06-19-2005 03:02 AM

not really close to garland but im in san antonio and marvel is great hehe

https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683785.gif that kit has been in development for a LONG time. much easier to just buy a TII already. n/a's are only good with a peri-port, but you can say hello to single digit gas mileage.

well no **** sherlock, mine is stock. you loose all that weight and upgrade the power and of course you can beat something like that ya numbnut. i think my dead grandma could figure that one out. now on to more intelligent people and matters. i figured instead of investing that 5 G's in something 15 years old, i'll get and FD and put that loot to a better use. i think the body lines are just more "sexy" on the FDs. I still have lots of time to think about it. Well the car show is tomorrow so come if you wish. (read my previous post on location and times)

donhayes 07-16-2005 12:23 AM

everyone says that fc weigh around 2700lbs. But if you look inside the driverside door it says that the car weighs around 3495lbs. So is my car ungodly heavy or am i reading something wrong? It gives seperate weights for the front and rear of the car. Anyone know what i'm talking about?

Snowman FC-RX7 08-02-2005 02:28 PM

Dude, Sell your car and buy an FD.

rowtareh 08-05-2005 09:32 AM

Haha. It is not just that easy to sell your car and buy an FD. Try finding a good condition FD that has not gone through 1 or 2, ****, even 3 engines.

Yes, FD's are a dream for most rotary enthusiasts, but just face it, FD's are expensive for being 10-12 years old.

Just invest money into an FB, run the engine until it dies on you, and then do a turbo swap. You should have fun then.
