I was on my way home from work, when a Mark IV Supra pulls behind me. I think it might be a worthy opponent until it pulls up next to me at a stop light. Whenever the word rice is mentioned, this is the car that will immediately pop into my head.
For one it was painted a light blue that would look more appropriate at a baby shower. It also had a body kit that I guess he forget needed to be painted so it was white. He rounded this off with a huge wing that one could use a fall out shelter in case of emergency. Besides those performacne enhancers, he had blue under body neons, a "coffee-can" exhaust tip, and a window decal of a huge toyota symbol that took up the entire rear window plus a TRD decal on the side of the car. I seriously doubt he had even a TRD radiator cap. However, I did hear a blow off valve, so I became intrigued, maybe he had something under the hood.
I run stock boost, since im saving up for a boost controller and intercooler kit, so i thought it might be a good battle. He starts reving his engine, yet I just wait for him to make the move. We turn on to a side road and he punches it, I then follow suit. I didnt push my FD very hard though only reving to about 4500 until shifting. However, he then started moving a bit faster, and we were approaching the first turn.
I heel-and-toe, down from 2nd to first, and take the corner at an exhilerating 60 mph, about 2 inches from his bumper. I guess this was to much pressure for him and he floored at the exit of the turn. It didnt help, I stayed on him only going 3/4 throttle. Finally we reached a straight, I floored it, then going 100, switched lanes, passed him and got in front of him. I continued for about another taking turns, yet he never caught.
I guess what lots of people forget when comparing the RX-7 and Supra is the huge weight advantage the RX-7 has due to it's Rotary Engine. It really helped me out here. Also the fact that it was a turning course, the Supra's 30 hp advantage (if it was that, I never go to ask him
