Went out to a LAN center yesterday for a night of gaming with a friend, and on the way she mentioned that the rich kids there all have nice cars and like to race 'em on a 1/8th mile stretch behind the place. I'd never raced before, and have no performance mods on my '93 touring, but one guy with a 2005 Ion Red really wanted to try his mettle against a 7, so I gave it a go.

I pulled effortlessly off the line, and kept pulling 'til the top of second gear, which was pretty much the end of the track. He said he was having clutch problems getting into third, and wanted a rematch, so I did the same thing to him again https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png

I did smell a lot of burning clutch as we pulled back in...

Maybe next time I'll pick on somebody my own size (but I do have a downpipe ready to install, and a Koyo radiator coming by UPS).

Why bother with a saturn, oh well a kill none the less.

Ive ridden in oneo f those satrun redlines at my work. They are no doubt quick cars, especially for a friggin saturn, but a stock TII would run circles around it, no match for the rotary.

Man, it's not working out. I wanted to start small and work my way up--it was my first race, and he'd done it there quite a bit.

But the "working my way up" part doesn't seem to be working out--met a girl who just bought a '96 mx-6, and she's convinced that because it's newer it'll be faster.

Although I guess with 116,000 miles on my car, I should be grateful I'm not facing any actual challenges, I don't want any huge repair bills looming to closely on the horizon.

Engine was rebuilt at 80,000, turbos rebuilt at 114,000; so it's not all that bad. Suspension makes a nasty noise if you turn right or left up a slope, and there's an ominous whistling noise (but it only happens at low rpms, before the car warms up, so I don't think it's the turbos).

She's kinda cute, so instead of beating her pants off in a race, I think I'll charm her panties off by taking her for a ride and pulling out of a stoplight at 5,000 rpm to subtly make my point about which car's quicker.

The FD RX-7 is supposed to be Mazda's "shining star" performance-wise. Good plan on charming her instead because really whomping on a girl doesn't get you anything but a lot of friends saying "Man, you should've taken it easy on her." Besides, it'd be great for two (straight) Mazda owners to do some lovin.' https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...DIR#>/wink.png

I know its hard to turn down races but when your racing cars like that your basically just wasting gas you know. I have stock touring too and I'm not saying its the fastest car but really unless your not running modded rice, or domestics your not really gonna have a huge problem beating them. Get the girls number then give her ride she'll be on her knees!

It worked! I literally had to clean dried juices off my center console.
