I have a 93 FD and I am wanting to race it pretty bad. However, I do not feel like there is enough low end power. Once it gets up in the RPM's it feels like is takes off, but low end it just does not feel very fast. Could this be a sign that something is wrong?
Thanks! |
rx7 get the most power out of the higher rpms. am i right ace or vosko?
|
yes you are right turbo II most the power is made in the higher rpm's not much low end on a rotary
|
Well that makes me feel better. Maybe I will give some of these ricers around town a go then.
Thanks! https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...R#>/mellow.png |
lol i read it as twatt
|
j/p
|
all rx7s are like that. thats why when i race i will acually drop it at about 5 to 6 grand in rpms. makes a bad ass leap out of the hole and suprises all kinds of people.
|
LOL...with my Nitto's and OS Giken twin, I dump the clutch at 6500 RPM's...I get a nice chirp and then I'm hole shotted!...of course with my K2RD drag links, No wheel hop and all GO https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/BURNOUT.gif

Turbo II, that is hilarious. I never thought about it but I see it now that you point it out. LMAO!
|
twyatt are you running sequential turbos ? if you are you should have PLENTY of low end power..... you might have a turbo control system problem. if you are running non-seq or single turbo all the power will be in the upper rpm range

the first turbo can get boost as soon as 1500rpm. they are soo tiny they spool so fast its crazy! before my foot hit the floor even at low rpm i was hitting 15psi :o |

The car is mostly stock, so I have the sequential turbos. I do not feel any real "boost in power until I get to about 3 1/2 to 4 k RPM. Then I feel it kick in.

Maybe check some of your vaccum lines on your turbo's
possibly you are losing boost untill 3500 because of a vaccum leak. |
Also get a boost gauge. It will tell you what you turbos are doing.
|
another turbo concern.....check all the lines and pipes. I know if you get massive lag its control issue and a common selenoid that goes bad is the one right where the acv is(think its turbo control not sure of the name just the location).
boost gauge also helps!!!! |
buy a boost gauge!...then meet me over in the 3rd Gen section...
