...cigarettes yesterday, that is. :smilewink:

Gotta stop, or it will KILL me. Seriously. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub..._DIR#>/sad.png

Okay, this time for real.

I smoked a Del Sol from a stoplight. Then he tried to pull me off the second light a couple blocks down.

The first time, I guess he thought he smoked his tires too much, which did give me a pleasantly comfortable full car length lead in first gear. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub..._DIR#>/dry.png The second run was a bit closer, but I still dusted him pretty good. It surprised me when he went the first time. I swear the guy was at least 60 years old...

I know, you turbo guys are thinking 'so what?!?' right now. I'll be saying it right with you by April. However, for now, wasting Hondas and early eighties Mustangs will have to do.

Hey, I race just about anyone as long as the conditions are safe. I'll admit that a lot of times I get spanked pretty hard, but I chalk that up to racing anybody, including cars that I know are waaaay out of my league from the get-go. :cheesy:

My most embarrassing episode of getting smoked was a car full of Native Americans. It was a '72 or '73 Pontiac Grand Prix. This one was years ago, but I remember thinking "oh yeah, you've got 3 adults and 5 kids in the car. This ought to be a cake walk". The light turned green, and he was stopped for the light 3 locks up from me before I was half way there. I didn't stop to get a look under the hood, but I'm pretty sure that it was NOT stock. :smilewink:

Of course these cars that smoke me in a straight line would be the ones making the excuses if there were actually turns in a drag race. :newlaugh:

Take care,

yeah one of my friends has this old chevelle in primer with a hood and cheap wheels and tires... it used to have a 327 CI engine under the hood....

Well we had a Monte carlo SS with a 350 in it pull up to us. He revved. my friend just looked over and did nothing. Light turns green. We both nail it.. 10mph they pull ahead 20mph they pull ahead 30mph somehow we are infront now 40mph they are about 2 car lengths 50 mph lol about 5 car lengths back and it kept going this way till 90mph. Well ok this chevelle was not stock and looked like a beater... but it had a built up 454 2 bolt main with a 750 carb with a redline of 7800 rpms. Also dynoed out at 659 hp and 642 foot pounds of torque and has 4.11 gearing. OOPS he kinda picked the wrong beater to mess with!!!

I picked the wrong fight one time, as well, back when I had my 1986 GXL. I had a buddy along with me and some ricey looking late 80's Civic Hatchback was revving his ****, so I maneuvered my way around the highway traffic to get a bit ahead of him without really getting into it. He followed suit, and started hauling up behind me. I shifted down into third to get my revs up, and he was still gaining like crazy on me. After a run through the gears, my GXL was out of breath, and this mofo BLOWS by me and leaves me staring at his fat exhaust pipe. He ended up slowing down after he was at least 10 car lengths ahead. When I caught up, he gave us a smile and thumbs up. My buddy and I (both of us hate ricers), are grinning and giving him the thumbs up too, happy that he could back up the "fast-look" with some power. I swear, that guy must have had NOS or a turbo or something, because none the ricers that I'd raced in my hometown could do ANYTHING like that.
