I was coming home from the gas station about an hour ago and some guy in a Honda Civic Si decided to cut me off and then give ME the finger. Needless to say, I was a little 'distraught' about the situation. He backed up, flipped me off again, and waved me on. I popped the clutch and spun my tires all the way up to second gear, and then chirped 'em again when I jammed on the accelerator. Mr. 2000 Si behind me decided to give chase. 106hp stock 12A vs. a 160~hp I4. Does that sound fair to you? Me either.

Into the first corner I had a lead, given to the fact that he had to turn almost 180 to give chase. I didn't take the first corner intentionally hard, but the tires chirped a little again. He gunned his engine and caught up to us (my friend was in the car with me) in a few seconds with his HP advantage. He had us on power, but not when it came to turning. Seeing him pursuing, we decided to see what the kid could do. My friend that was with me recognized him as a kid from his school with a loud mouth and a louder exhaust. Three turns later we were building a lead, even momentarily losing him into the nearby school parking lot.

He came into the lot, probably having heard the (intentional and lovely) 360 we pulled when we came around the corner. He tried to pop his clutch, only to realize how heavy his engine was over his front wheels, which caused him to get grip and fly at us. It seemed to freak him out, because he hit the breaks and almost stalled his engine. Another invigorating romp through the neighborhood and a few power slides later, we lost him. The whole event lasted about 10 minutes from first flipped bird to last hard corner.

As previously stated, although briefly, my '85 RX-7 GS is completely stock, but apparently well maintained by the previous owners.

racing near a school and in the neighborhood. Total lack of respect for other lives if something bad where to happen.

Why did they/he sell such a beautiful car to you?

You've given the school kiddies a real good example of how to drive just like a moron and pissed off the entire neighborhood... Bravo!

We need a moment of silence for the RX-7 that is about to be impounded by the cops, slammed into a tree, or even worse...

We all have those incidents in our past where we did something stupid and got away with it. Others weren't so lucky and have paid dearly.

If I ever saw what you just described in person, I'd block the exit and wait for police. Dammit I'm mad! I'm tired of hearing about kids and people getting killed in senseless car accidents! Maybe you need to see the affects of extreme reckless driving firsthand. Brains, teeth, guts, blood, chunks of skin and splintered bones... not to mention the unique smell of auto fluids and blood and entrails mixed together.

Are you ready to be held responsible for the risking or taking of others' lives? Is your ego worth that much to you? Do you need SOMETHING A LITTLE GRAPHIC to illustrate my point? (Very real blood and guts. Only a moose was harmed.)

Tell you what. I'll swap my beaten down '86 SE junker /parts car for your nice rare stock '85 GS. I'm sure it'll still hit about 80 mph(maybe 110 if we push it) down a big hill and we'll find one with a bridge out at the bottom for you too.

You have been scorned by people with obviously more experience /superior knowledge than you. If you don't listen up, then you deserve what's coming to you.

I feel sorry for the innocents that may be involved in your demise... and oh yeah, welcome to the forums!

Thanks for the 'warm welcome' and thank you for the (however agitated, though rightfully so) worry, even if you are more concerned for the car than our well-being.

I know it was stupid, and I wasn't trying to say it wasn't, but in the situation and at the time I was equally as pissed as him, but he's a more aggressive person than I am, meaning that he probably would have followed us home and/or come after my friend at school, which he's done before.

About the school thing, there are a few things that make it less dangerous than it seems when you read that post: the school was shut down 15 years ago and is therefore always completely empty, the neighborhood is in the middle of nowhere, and the nearest house is almost a mile away. The turns are so tight because they used to have state fairs and stuff like that out there, so they had small roads and whatnot to get everyone from point A to point B quickly. I live in the country, about 6 miles from town so there was no one else on the roads or in the school's vacant parking lot.

I'm sorry if I worried you all, even if you care solely about the car, and I'm sorry to have started things on a bad foot so to speak.

Better news (maybe) there is a good chance that in the next few weeks I'm going to be getting a Holley Carb, not sure which one, but I'm looking, so we'll see. I'll keep you updated on that.

Again, it's my fault, it was stupid, and don't worry, it was a one time deal, he had since lost his license for excessive speed, reckeless driving, and possession with the intent to sell.

I know this is a touchy subject but for me it comes down to this.

There is a right way and a wrong way to street race. If you don't know the difference, you're doing it wrong.

I was raised by a street racer and I continue the tradition. Being raised by a street racer I've seen the good, the bad, and the ugly. And really things get ugly when people take lives for granted. Just remember that you're not just responsible for your own life, but for all the lives of those around you, and their families, and their friends. Don't take unnecessary risks. Don't take anything for granted- anything can happen at any time. Don't let yourself be pressured into racing someone when you know you shouldn't. Do take every precaution you can, because if you don't, it may be the last chance you get.
