DISCLAIMER:

First off, I don't condone street racing. That being said..

Time: 1:30 am

Location: Macarthur Causeway, heading West into the city.

This is a 2-3 mile "land bridge" connecting Miami with Miami Beach. No cross streets, No Lights, 3 lanes wide, with oncoming traffic on the other side of a divider.

In other words, there was no better place to do this without compromising anybody but myself and the other driver.

I was leaving South Beach after hanging out with a few friends, and was stuck in traffic with a nice silver WRX on my left. It had nice Rims, "A" pillar gauges, and a nice throaty exhaust. I like WRX's so I would glance at it from time to time. Well I guess the guy thought I wanted to race him or something.

He would rev his boxer 4 every minute or so, and then let off fast so I could hear his BOV. My wife was wondering, WTF is up with him? I told her he must be trying me, setting me up for the opening on to the causeway.

She give me the green light, "go ahead, just don't overdo it."

Me: "Well, maybe just a little..."

My mind starts racing off.. a street race.. boy, I haven't done this in years...

The light turns green, and only like 10 cars go in front of us. We are lined up side to side, and the light turns red.

He could've gone, but he decided to stay behind.

So there we are, two abreast waiting for the light to turn green, to enter the causeway/highway.

As I look at him, I hear him reving it pretty high now, trying to build some boost for that AWD launch.

I am getting nervous now. But I know my HD does not spin off the line, unless I get sloppy.

I press my brake, and tap the accelerator to get about 950 RPMS, building some boost.

The green left arrow light turned on and I almost took off... crap, that would've been stupid.

Finally the green light turned on, and he launched hard and got about a car length on me as I released the brake, and floored the throttle.

Then it was all over, and over fast.

As soon as I hit about 20 mph, I blew by him and and kept pulling, pulling and pulling.

At about 100Mph, I slowed down and let him catch up. I had gotten about 10 car lengths on him!

I was suprised to say the least. We both exit on Biscayne Blvd, and we talk at the light for a minute.

He kept asking if I had Nitrous. My wife was giggling as I told him it was bone stock. (for now) I pulled so hard on him that I thought he missed second gear or something. But no, the HD's massive Torque pulled like there was not tomorrow. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png

He had intake/Cat-back, & boost controller running more boost. He said he had some other stuff done, but I didn't quite understand it.

Pretty cool if you ask me, I know the truck is quick (13.9 bone stock), but I thought the AWD Turbo WRX was going to hand me my ass.

Now that I know what they are capable of, I won't even bother racing them in with my 7. Not enough of a challenge.
