Last week I was cruising down Main Street on my way to some Northern Californian cliffs for a nice drive. I look behind me and there was a nice set up of street bikes following close. 7 in all.

I continue to drive and so do they. I think, great maybe they will follow.

So we continue for about 15 miles up through the winding sea cliffs and catch some good speeds on the straight ways (about 95MPH). Some fun 2nd gear hair turn down hill corners and fun negative-gravity crest turns. They stayed right behind me.

Then the fun commenced. After the cliffs the roads heads inland into the twistiest

( I know it is not even a word) roads I have ever had the pleasure to drive on.

For a good 35 miles I come across elevation changes and curves that force me to downshift into 2nd around turns that would regulate you to no faster that 30 to 40 MPH. speeds were rarely faster that 60 MPH.

They followed well until about turn 6 and then I started easing away from them. After about 10 minutes I had but 3 cycles behind me. An all black Yamaha and two green Kawasaki’s.

I got into driving mode and started to eat up corners left, right then another right. After about 15 minutes I started to shake them off.

Near the end, before reaching the village that is Legget, it was I and the black Yamaha. He stayed behind me well until last few miles. I just had more traction than what he could muster.

I got to Legget and there was but one small gas station with old-school style pumps. To my surprise there was another red FC-S5 there and was for sale. I thought it was interesting and spoke to the clerk there at the station. The young man, about 17, working there said he was going to buy it. We talk and I filled my gas tank up. After maybe 5 to 10 minutes the bikes started to show up. The guy on the black Yamaha pulled over at intersection to wait for the other riders before he come to the gas station.

I met them. We conversed and I told him about my mods and my car. Swell guys. It was great finding other drivers/riders that have a passion for speed. Then I left.

Half the trip was over. On my way back I come across an SUV, Ford Explorer, that I got stuck behind. He would not pull over. So I ended up passing him up on a straightway through double yellows. I was only coasting down the mountains in neutral and he still would not get the idea. Thinking he could really keep up, really.

So I continue and all is good until I come up to some more vehicles. This time it was a green Saturn and a Logging truck full of logs. The Saturn and I get lucky and the logging truck pulls over on a turn-out soon enough. The Saturn is in front of me and I catch up to it quick. For the rest of the twiestties he thought he could try to outrun me. He was pushing that little thing to all it had but to no avail. I was stuck to it ass like flies on a donkeys ass. Another one that would not pull over. Albeit he was faster that the Explorer still he annoyed me for miles.

Then we get out of the mountains and on to the straight cliff-side roads. These straights go for a good 4 miles and the Saturn steped on it immediately. I follow behind in fourth gear, I didn't bother to power-shift into 3rd. We both accelerate and we start reaching triple-digits in speed. I start inching and then footing him on fourth. I started squeezing fourth and the lines in the middle break to pass. By then I was at 6,000 RPM in forth at 112 MPH. I continue to stretch out the gear to about 7.500 RPM and pass him going 120 and shift into 5th as I got in front of him. I hit 130 and realize I passed him and cruised at the speed for a good while until the Saturn finally gave up and reduced his speed to the limit. I did the same soon after and went home please with a good drive for the evening.

I love driving.

I love days like that. I miss daily driving my vert and just searching for curvy roads. The big ol tundra doesn't like the curves too much.

And sweet7 is right, most guys on bikes don't ever get anywhere close to their bikes limits in the turns. I like pushing mine till the hair on my neck stands up, and then a little more. Mines just a cruiser though (honda shadow) so even an unskilled sport bike rider would probably leave me behind...

You'd be surprised. I've seen guys on hogs and cruisers destory amateur riders on sport bikes through the twistys.
