I was hanging out with some friends and this T/A comes cruising thruogh looking for a race. Idon't normally play with V8's but I said screw it because I was board. We chase him down and get him to race. 1st race I launch at 3300, spin a little but still manage to stay ahead by about 3/4 of a car, shift to 2nd and we stay the same, hit 3rd (hear aloud pop, threw a flame) and pul like a mother fucker on him. I pulled about 4-5 cars on him. By the time we finished I had him by about 6 cars. Second race was me, him, and my friend in his Sentra SER. We all launched and they both took me out of the hole because I spun like I was on ice. Hit second still spinning but amnage to get about even with them. Hit third and realled them in and past them. Hit 4th and finished with about 1/2 a car on the T/A and 1 car on the Sentra. I know the second race makes the 1st look like a bullshit story, but it's true. The second race I spun alot(lot of gravel on the road). BTW Vosko the Kumho 712s really do hook up well for my second gen. :bigthumg:

Forgot to mention that the T/A was an automatic, totally stock, and I think the driver was drunk. Also I was running 10psi and the Sentra was decently moded.

1Revvin7 11-17-2002 02:18 PM

cool, i was thinking about using those tires too, they're inexpensive. I wanna try atleast 255s though https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...DIR#>/wink.png o ya good kill, what was done to this sentra, aren't those slow ass cars????

Turbo II 11-17-2002 04:32 PM

i forget what year it ws, either 85-87, but still do date, fastest trans am ever made. The one with the stock GNX motor in it. 0-60 in like 4.3 stock. i met a guy with one of those, so sweet.

7mech 11-18-2002 03:09 AM

It was a newer T/A. Without the WS6 package or ram air. I think it was like a 99, but I'm not sure.

Thats the 1989 20th Anniversary edition Trans Am, I think if you raced a SLP Firehawk against one the newer one would win, the SLP Firehawk has almost a 100hp advantage over the 1989.

90_GTU_jeremy 11-18-2002 04:40 PM

the firehawk has around 340 hp depending on what options it has. its problyalmost as fast as a c5 vette... just wont handle as well

mazdaspeed101 11-18-2002 11:01 PM

i have the toyo t1s's and they stick real well but they are expensive but my mom got me 50% off https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/BURNOUT.gif

BigTurbo74 11-18-2002 11:04 PM

yeah i think that SLP series or model was like the t2 of rx7s. bigger brakes more power and what not

Drifter93 11-19-2002 11:05 AM

Just wanted to say that I lined them up and when the hands came down and I looked back the rx7 was kicking ass. :bigthumg:

Fastrotaries 11-26-2002 10:57 PM

AHHHHH that's so sweet.........https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png Anybody that i might know? How are you liking the Kumho's. It's such a good feeling isn't it. well i guess your cherry has been offiicially popped.

blaze08 11-26-2002 11:15 PM

Nice kill man! I lost to my friends 89 camaro RS V8 in my 86 N/A , I wish I was turbo charged, but he didn't beat me by much, just two cars length. But my 3rd gen kicked his ass allright.

BigTurbo74 11-27-2002 01:04 PM

what? how the hell did that happen? don't the rs's have 6 cylinders and the 80's have like under 200 hp at 3600lbs? did he transplant or have any mods?

7mech 11-27-2002 01:27 PM

In thelate 80's and early 90's you could order them with the 305ci v8.

r0gu3 11-27-2002 02:20 PM

I took out a WS-6 the other night. Makes it the 3rd one on my kill list. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/dunno.gif

7mech 11-27-2002 02:52 PM

That's not to hard for a 3rd gen depending on the T/A's mods. Try doing it with a 2nd gen. Good kill though.

I would have never gotten close in my '86 GXL. I want a S5 TII soooo badly.

90_GTU_jeremy 11-27-2002 03:47 PM

the guy i bought my gtu from said he beat the occasional new v8 camaro and mustang... some of them cant drive for ****. the guy i got the car from is an exceptional driver... he ony sold the rx cuz he bought some kind of topline sport bike... i guess a 15000 redline beats 8000... oh well

Those 80's camaros are slow as ****. the 305 v8s had 170-190hp with 3400-3600lbs. 0-60s in those have to be in the 9-10s, stock. an n/a rx7 should be able to beat one, if it has good compression.

90_GTU_jeremy 11-27-2002 03:54 PM

yeah in the 80's the mustang was faster consistently... although it all reversed in the 90's
