Hi everyone, not exactly an outright one on one kill but here's a video of the old man's car in the international silver fern rally which he won a few years ago the last time the car was used. I can post a few pictures and specs too if anyone is interested. I don't think there's many FD's around throwing gravel so thought it worth a post!

post the specs.. curious as to what is allowed to run in a rally...

hats off to the old man on the win... although id recommend ditchin the frog eyes... https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...DIR#>/wink.png

Here's a short list of the specs, the photo's can do a better job than me writing I think.

-1997 RX-7 RS

-Factory 13B PP dry sumped motor

-6 speed sequential Holinger SG

-Cusco diff

-MCA suspension

-Link G4 Storm ECU

-Electric water pump

-Sliding throttle bodies

-Custom made oil tank, radiator, oil cooler etc

It really depends on the individual rally and the class you enter within that rally but at least for the Silver Fern from the video above the rules were quite open and allowed any 2WD production car that retained its shape & engine location etc. Since then this particular rally has tightened up on the regulations though. Cars built for rallying generally tend to be less class specific than racing counterparts though so it isn't hard to nudge in somewhere with whatever you've got.

Cheers, haha yeah I believe the lights are more to do with weight saving while keeping the car road legal than anything. The silver car was a bit of a **** up really, the car that was heading for 3rd position blew up just before the finish so the organizers dismissed its likelihood of making it and handed 3rd place to Charlie Evans driving the silver rx7, so it was 3rd for awhile..... Turns out that the other car did manage to make it across the line in time and they stripped Charlie Evans of 3rd after the early celebrations! Assumption, the mother of all..... None the less he still drove a gen1 to a close 4th.

Uploaded a few photos into the vehicle folder, the car is still being built in most of them but they show most of the mods pretty well

doubt theres much of a weight difference from stock... he should gone sleek lights if he had to veer off stock..

The stock headlight assemblies are heavy enough all up to warrant the change at least for a rally car that is well over the ideal weight. The sleek ones do look sweet but he chose what he chose and I wouldn't lose sleep over it.
