i ran my buddies civic si over the weekend, his mods, , header, skunk2 intake, exhaust and an act street / strip clutch.
my mods are as listed in the sig. ok, so here's how it went dotn, i was on my way home from work, bumped into him on the loop, we were rolling at about 40, in a 45 zone, just looking at eachother. he shouts over "wanna run from a 40?!" i say, ok, we just stay at 40, along side eachother... well, he honks 3 times, i drop into second as does he, i jump a fender, he catches up, were even and once again, like most other kills, my long third gear allows me to just pull and pull, i shut down at the mid of 4th ( i know, a little too fast for the street ) about a car and a half ahead. all in all, i thought i would have lost.... it was a good fun time though. |
hmmmm. get a turbo or bridgeport job done and start killing some 8 bangers, leave the 4 bangers alone.
better paying job = nice fb. i will be making close to fd owner money, with fb owner mentality. im just going to be smart, save money, wait for the engine to go, when it does, im going to go with a bridge, carb setup. and get a beater.... i just decided, dropping a 13bT or a 13b-re into my se is just too much work for not having a second car. haha sure dont feel like walking to work. |
dude, you would probably get better gas mileage out of the 13b-re with a small single turbo, than the bridgeport with a carb. carb is so old, get with the times.
but it's your car. |
True, but carbs suck when it comes to a daily driver! https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683358.gif |
you do have a point about the racetrack, but c'mon, a turbo is so much more fun in a rotary. these are not v8 engines. you can make only so much power out of a bridgeport.
|
carbs dont suck as a daily driver either. i drove my n\a with a holley for two years without touching a thing. no problems. you can still turbo charge to, i just did. looking forward to getting a "kill" one of these days. no one wants to race me.

Off topic. I was just wondering what does it mean when your engine is carbed? Just been seeing it a lot and I'm not to mechanical savvy...
It's just a different way of mixing the air and fuel and injecting it into the combustion chamber - instead of controlling the process with a computer chip, it's done mechanically. Mark |
last time i checked you havent owned either of these, so if you dont have personal experice it would be good to keep quiet, because you make yourself look like an ass https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683664.gif |

glad to see someone is taking a different route than just throwing a turbo at it.
ive just decided to go with a proven, vintage setup. my engine is too low mielage and strong to just pull and swap out. it would be a waste of a good engine, as well as the fact, i can daily drive a carb'd gsl-se without the worry of turbo maintnence. just looking for a good bit of bolt on power with room to improve, when the engine pops, im just going to BP it and keep the carb setup. |
Thanks for the info inanimate object. Been bugging me for a while now. Hehe.

Yeah, from what I hear DD'ing a NA is much easier in a rotary. I can't say I've experience that since I haven't tried doing that with my FD and the RX-8 is still fairly new.
