I really don't get the appeal of the Honda Civic. I can see from the standpoint of the daily driver, uses the car to go to work and back, that the car gets decent gas milage and has just enough umph to get up to speed. What I can't see is what all the rage amongst ricers is. I think their good cars, I just don't have 15K to make one fast, or maintain a stock car that is continuously torn down by crapy driving habits.

Yesterday I was driving my Rx4 into town.

At a series of stop lights a Honda Civic four door pulled up next to me, HUGH spoiler (that no matter how mutch you explain to the driver of the vehicle that in a front wheel drive a spoiler like that will only reduce traction to the drive wheels, he will still belive otherwize due to the self imposed delusion of performance gain that formed from the shame of knowing the spoiler is only for looks https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683358.gif ), tacky grey body-kit that probably is the third one replaced after shredding the first few on speed bumps and roadkill, dual coffee can exhaust (only one is actually connected to the exhaust system. the other is visibly spotless, no tarnish, the difference between the two is night and day), cop-bait clear tail lights, and to top it all off the custom red/yellow paint job looks like a monkey could have done better coating its pooh in paint and then flinging it at the car.

The driver is the average young MTV punk that obviously hasn't been exposed to the real world. (Pardon the pun. I mean 40 hour weeks, little to no play, and your only hope is to win the lottery on Saturday and not even bother calling in on Monday https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683329.gif ) The car is full of teenie boppers, crammed in like clowns in VW, faces literally pressed to the glass and everything. LOL

He rev'd his engine several times while the light was red. I despise that weedeater lack of torque sound. Light turned green so I took of as I normally do, as if I have to get up to flying speed before running off a short runway. I didn't even notice the Civic until his flyby. As I pulled up next to him at the next light he was grinning and bobbing his head harder than most mentally ill people I've seen.

I launched at 5k rpm spinning through first, then second but got traction quickly enough to proceed to redline through the gears. At about 110 I costed to the next light and waited there.

Now here is the good part. My windows are usually down when I drive as they were yesterday, Civic boy finally gets to the light so I ask "What mod and motor?" He replies in the most sheepest voice ever "Its Stock." https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...O_DIR#>/11.gif

STOCK!! WTF! All that glitz and glamor on his car along with his aggressive show driving and its only stock. WTF? His teenie bopper friends are all wooping and holler, laughing their asses off at him.

before I can pull away from the stop he asks "What kind of car is that man."

I replied "It's a rotary and thats all you need to know." but I think all he heard was It's a rotary..... because I dropped the clutch half way through and split. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683329.gif

good job...

as for most civic racers, well, they like to call some swaps as stock, being the swapped engine is in stock form, prolly to hide some of their shame as seeing how the 3000 dollars spent on their gsr swap has netted no real gains.

Srce 06-02-2004 04:05 PM

Good ****.

rowtareh 06-02-2004 07:00 PM

Noice kill. You can never beat a rotary. Especially a RX-4. What do you have on the RX-4?

spooliNrx7 06-02-2004 09:48 PM

NICE man! I have had my TII for almost 2 months now and I have yet to embarrass a honda boy in front of his friends.

RotaryXSevn 06-03-2004 12:28 AM

no i can honestly say i in no doubt think that, that dirty ricer civic was stock. gay bitches. i hate em.

RE4 06-03-2004 09:48 AM

All I've done after getting the little beast running was to replace the motor with a fully rebuilt 13b, swaped the 4 speed for a 5 speed from a 84' Rx7 GSL, and have a custom exhaust installed replacing the restricting stock one(header back, no emissions, 30 year old cars are exempt from smog tests here).

My ambitions are by fin de anyo to have a 20b under the hood with a six speed. Im all about the sleeper and no one expects any thing from a mid seventies rotary they don't even recognize.

I'm still working on the pics.

RE420B

P.S. Thanks for the replies.

HAHAHAHAHAHA.... stock. Nice way to put his ass into place. Do you have any pics?

GarageBoy 06-03-2004 01:12 PM

Nice kill! I soo want a vintage rotary

https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...DIR#>/ohmy.png I would like to see a 20b'd RX-4 with a 6-speed. Have you considered porting the 13b? I have always wanted a BP'ed RX-3 or RX-4. BRAP,BRAP,BRAP.That would be badass.

Please, I am dying to see some pics. And have you venture over to the vintagerotaries forum. I am over there alot, and the other guys over there would like your company and input over there. Believe me. Anybody that would think of putting a 20b in a RX-4 is god in there eyes.

www.vintagerotaries.com

P.S. Where are you located?

RE4 06-03-2004 05:45 PM

Yeah, I've thought about a ported 13b with a supercharger as an alternative to the 20b, but I really want to install the opitomy of the rotary engine(20b) into the Rx4 to make the ultimate sleeper. That and I love the sound of the three rotor engine.

My work college owns a 74' REPU, he wants me to put a 20b in the Rx4, but, he wants to replace the rotors with high compression rotors and widen the port significantly. A carbureted 20b sound tempting to me, what do you think? https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub..._DIR#>/dry.png

Oh yeah, I'm in Boise, ID.

RE420B

P.S. No, I don't grow potatoes (the only thing thats produced around here is sugarbeats, wheat, and a **** load of microchips. I work for HP), the area is too diverse for any racist, and there are far too many Ken doll ricers that are all show and no go.

Carberuoted 20b would be easier to tune. Just with a screwdriver. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png

A supercharger would be nice too, but I like BP and of course the ultimate Peri-Port. There is a sound clip on this site I posted of a 10a Peri-Port that is in a R100 I think. I forget what car it is in. Just search for 10a Peri-Port and you will come across it I am sure.

20b's are always going to be the ultimate engine swap. You could also go 26b https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...DIR#>/ohmy.png But that would be insane, and a huge fabrication job.

Boise,Idaho huh? Any more vintage rotaries around your area? We only have one that I know of, and that is my neighbor Fd3BOOST, he owns a '74 REPU, yellow, with alot of work needed. You can't beat REPU's. I want to buy one for my dad when I get older and more experienced and completely restore it for him. With the very reliable 13b N/A with stock ports. I think he would ******' love it. And if he does not take it, I would gladly take it for him.

Get me some pictures so I can drool. And a picture of the REPU if possible.

TyresmokinRx7 06-05-2004 02:02 AM

Nice kill, Is it from a Rx4 coupe or sedan?

RE4 06-07-2004 09:11 AM

Coupe, I'm having trouble uploadeding images of my car but I got one of my friends REPU. It'll get posted. Check my sig for a little more info.
