Damn! It's hard to take a pic. when you're going this fast. Just look at all those miles on my poor car! Next pic. will be closer to 140mph. That is what I was trying to do, but I started to come up on a spot where the piggies like to hang out and bust people like me.

i got it to showup but only 120mph psssshhhaaaawww you can do better than that. i had my GTU up to 135 almost 140 but slowed down due to someone slamming on brakes ahead of me. i will not do anymore highspeed runs till have radar.

I've had my 7 up to around 134 - 135 racing an Audi TT, but no digital camera. :frown: I would like to max it out, I know it is geared to the moon I have the 3.909 final drive gear. I think I can get it up to at least 140. Just a matter of finding a place to do it and this shitty Seattle weather isn't helping. When the roads are wet I don't like to go much over 110. Plus my tires are 225 50 15; not too good when it comes to nice wet roads.

5 spd and 2.73's in the back rearend... make accelerating a bit easier... but I still get 28mpg on the highway!!!

well at least at 65mph and 75mph.... lol

damn I am here as someone who likes and appreciates RX7's... I have taken out a few of them... and while mine is completely stock it wont stay that way.... It's been baselined at 14.8 in high heat. that is respectable...

Thats right I dont even have numerically higher gearing to help me get off the line! Ok so some of you have beaten mustangs.... most of you can run with stock ones... but remember 01 Cobra convertibles bone stock off the show room floor with street tires run 13.3's! And Ford Lightnings run in the 12's with just a chip! So most pistons cant rev as high but thats not always the race. Motor trend had a comparo of the Acura Integra GSR/toyota Celica GTS/Mitsibishi Eclipse V6 GT. Now both the acura and toyota had similar power output and high revving motors. But the Eclipse had a bigger displacment V6 and lower revving capabilty. And the Eclipse was the fastest.....

Revving isnt everything...... sometimes low end torque can win you the race!

An old room mate of mine had a 89 5.0, and he hated hondas. One night we were out driving around and a civic wanted to race him. Well he ended up getting killed, by a civic of all things. He never heard the end of that one. That night I lost what little respect I had for rustangs.

Well when I was in High school I had an 84 mustang GT 350 with a 302 bored 60 over, a competition cam, and a 4 speed auto with a shift kit. It was a pretty fast car and sounded absoloutely awesome! I raced my brother once in his 86 GSL and he beat me by like half a car length. I admit I was only like 16 then, and unexperienced, but those RPM's make a difference. I smoked a few with that 84, it was a pretty fun car. It was so loud I was always setting off car alarms.

My 2.3 runs right around 5200rpms at 120 and is bacially redlining.

ok. lol so do u know what ur top end is? Let me get this straight, higher gear rations mean more Acceleration, Lower gear ratios mean higher speeds right? But your car has a 2.3 ratio for 5th gear. @4000 ur at 120, redline is 5200 that would mean ur top end is near 135. But since ur gears are so low should u be able to go like real fast top end???? cuz rx7 final gear is like 3.9( or something in the neighborhood) and they max near 140-145. So what is wrong with this picture?

with 225/60/15 tires I run 3800 RPM's at 120 in 5th gear

Most of the time I run a shorter tire.... but on stock tires thats what it is... and my redline is 5500rpms...

But that redline is easy to modify..

there are at least 10 aftermarket intakes for mustangs... and that is the EFI ones... several more Carbed ones...

Very easy to build a high revving 302 or 351 or 302 based 347 stroker or etc....

70mph crusing is 2300 rpms or so... with the 225/60's....

My winter tires are different though... and thats whats on it... but may put the vipers back on till snow falls.... my winter tires are just seasonal BFG Touring T/a Hr4's...

I want to replace the shocks struts quad shocks and get a strut tower brace springs and subframe connectors first... this car is an older convert and has a fair amount of cowl shake and some chassis flex...

I will never leave the V8 crowd but I will step in with the RX7 crowd. Got to have that V8 sound and feel. But got to have that RX7 lightness and that unique rotary motor.

thats also why I have a 2.3 mustang. I am wanting to sooner or later make it a 2.3 turbo and run with the V8 crowd with it....

Piston engines are boingers, because they make a "boing, boing, boing" sound.

The rotary simply goes 'Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm'.

This is how Mazda marketed the rotary engine in the late 70's and 80's I think.

Hey Twin if you go to www.3rotor.com you can hear a clip of 3rotor redlining thats pretty stanking cool. He also has lots of clips of rotors and such drag racing. I really ejoy that site, it is worth viewing if you haven't yet.

there is a black 94 twin Turbo RX7 with dual ricer mufflers in st.charles mo.... sounds like a lawn mower and blows nice lil puffs of smoke... guessing the turbos are letting go or something... he is kind of slow beat him already...

I like the stock sound of them though.

But still have not found a sound that can beat a high compression big block with a very big cam with long tube headers and 3 inch piping with flowmasters!!!

Well I am here looking for info on RX7's I think they are a sweet car.... Every car group that is made up of only a single model always dislikes other cars. I am on stangnet.com all the time and on there man Ricers and GM are the enemy and that is it! Well I am not like that. I like RX7's and some others... Dont like civics or chevy extremes though... Too many people have them and think they are fast... yes I know you can apply this to almost every car but still you see my point. Not trying to start anything. I appreciate these cars and want one that is why I am here.
