i was drivin home from my dads on the highway.. and this 3000gt passed me pretty quick and gave me a smirk and a head nod.... i dropped it into 4th gear and flew past at 7krpm and he couldnt keep up even though i put it to 5th to cruise for a while while he struggled..........90 gtu na

lol...

the 3000GT is nothing but an overweight, underpowered FWD pig unless its the VR4... then it can begin to hold its own
|
Yeah, VR4s are pretty nice. Pretty much the best thing Mitsubishi made. Edit: Besides all of those electronic parts such as TVs.
I think all those parts are in that car lollll.... All wheel steer, electronic wing, electronic suspension, electronic climate and cabin conditions, sport mode crusing mode, it's wayy to over done IMO |
Speaking of Mitsubishi parts under the hood, it seems like 8's have something there too...I forgot where it was and what it was, but there they were, the red triple-diamond shining on a sticker. |
I honestly dont like the VR4. They are lemons like the FD, minus the sexy looks and kick ass performance. Plus, they weight about 10 tons....
|
its just my first kill that was worth sayin anything i guess.. idk
Alternator maybe, Mitsubishi parts are all over Mazda cars. My Probe and Mazda MX6 both had Mitsu ignition modules and alternators. |

One of my good friends just bought a 3000gt. He made a comment the other night, while out drinkin, that his stock gt was pretty quick and would give my 94 fd a good run. I told him he needed to lay off the jesusjuice. |

haha yeah my first 3kgt kill was fun, guy looked pissed, it was an sl, and he had his girl with him....
sucks that such a pretty car doesnt have power until you get a vr4 |
dsm's suck!! there fast for cheap but even if you put the money into em they break like every other week, i put 2K in parts into mine after getting it, and i only owned it for 2 months |
yeah what are you guys speaking of the VR4 deffinenetly has performance... i just hear biased opinions i have a FC so im not taking sides just stating facts.
ok its a piggy 3760 lbs but its pushing 320 hp, 315 lb-ft 0-60 5.0, qtr mile goes by in 13.5 seconds.. no perfomance??? |
Just out of curiosity, what did a vr4 cost new? I've heard 60k, but there's know way thats right, right?
Those rare weird looking VR4 Spyders were $60K plus.....regular VR4's were in the $40's durng their last generation production.... |
Wow...alot of uneducated people in here.
|
the biggest problem with any 3000gt or stealth is handling. In a strait line there pretty fast for a stock car but u start adding too much power and that trans is going to go out. (im not talking a catback and intake im saying upgraded turbos ecu yadda yadda yadda)
|
3000GT doesn't run quarter mile in 13.5 try 14's. The 3000GT sold for around the same price you would have paid for an FD,Supra, and 300zx brand new. DSM's hold up better than alot of imports and domestics. They have bulletproof motors and weak transmissions. I would know I have a 97 Eclipse GSX and a friend of mine has a VR4.
|
Ehhh...screw it. You guys are killin me.
Overweight - Yep. 3671-3803 lbs. You can loose a couple hundred pounds pretty easily though. My Stealth weighs roughly 3352 lbs and I even have a 56 lb chromoly rollbar. It still has A/C too BTW...colder than my FD or my Scion. All the other amenities like power eveything (except antenna) and a 6-disc changer and amp. Looks? Yeah...I think the FD has them beat there. Can't argue with that. Performance? 94+'s have been tested to 13.4-13.5 in the quarter by the mags. Mine went 13.51 when it was bone stock other than a K&N and I wasn't even at sea level. Many other people I know have run 13.5's. On the other hand unless you actually launch it like you mean it then you'll be staring a 14 second timeslip. Glass transmissions? Way to regurgitate incorrect info you heard from some other moron. 91-92.5's have 18 spline output shafts. They can strip with enough power. 91-93's have aluminum transfer cases. They can shatter with enough power. 94+'s have 25 spline output shafts and iron transfercases. The 94+ driveline is tough as hell. Need proof? I cut 1.55 60's on four 275/35/18 drag radials with a RPS Carbon Carbon twin disc clutch and a 6000 RPM launch. I have made HUNDREDS of passes since 1999 and the car has ALWAYS left the track under its own power. Handling? Stock they're not bad...right in there with the other cars of its time. Add some coilovers and loose some weight and they do VERY well on a road course. AWD does wonders to allow an average Joe look like an Andretti. |
im glad someone felt like schooling people.

I learned more than I care to know about a car I care even less about.

And what happens when you go hard into a corner and accelerate to 30mph?? And lets not forget that (stock vs. stock) a fwd model will outrun the awd model in a top speed run..
Yeah they can get to be pretty fast when modified. But they're still HUGE cars with cheap looking interior. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...R#>/tongue.png |
