I was racing my brother last night at the strip and I had him by the like 3 cars until I hit third gear, then he took off and had my by five cars. I hit speeds of 135mph and couldnt catch up. We went for about 4 miles down the road. The shitty thing about it is he didnt even push his car, he only went up to like 5 grand while I was shifting at redline everytime and power shifting. But I dont feel all that bad cause my TII is stock w/ just a HKS air filter. And ,y brother has the racing chip, free flowing exhaust and downpipe and many others. About $3000 of upgrades. Once I do my downpipe and exhaust we'll see if im able to keep up with him a little better.

P.S My other freind who has a 85 bridgeport rx7 took him about 20 car lengths. So that made me feel a little better. And this time my brother was shifting at redline.

ive always like GTi's...those 1.8t are supposed to be about as fast as the VR6, but with mor potential...

1Revvin7 04-22-2002 08:56 PM

a kid i know has a Gti Vr6, are they supposed to be fast stock? do they have a turbo?

Turbo II 04-23-2002 11:54 AM

yeah the 1.8t is the turbo and I heard that the vr6 is gonna be made anymore after this year. Their all gonna be 1.9t

The 1.8T is a good engine. Tons of power potential. I was reading an article in SSC with intake, exhaust, and a chip they were pushing almost 200 rwhp.

Turbo II 04-23-2002 03:00 PM

they just have no low end power. 1st and 2nd gear are crappy for them

Heh, I believe that would be 200 whp, not rwhp, unless Volkswagen went rear-drive...

my brother just had his car dyno'ed and he's pulling 285 hp. I wanna dyno mine after i do my exhaust and downpipe and see where I'm at.

Actually fwhp generally stands for flywheel hp as opposed to front-wheel hp. Not that it matters, I'm sure we all knew what you meant anyway. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png
