So a couple weeks ago, a friend of mine challanges me to my first race at a stoplight on the local bypass. His 94 Teg LS is pretty much stock except an AEM cold air intake and some H&R sport springs. He had ridden in my FB the day before and didn't think it was much faster than his car. My 85 GSL has a 87 S4 shortblock and 84 GSL-SE external components. Almost all of the emissions are removed, a CSC cat-back exhaust, K&N cone intake, and removed a/c, p/s, and cruise control. Plus, it has around 125k on the motor and not in the greatest tune. While waiting for the light, I hold the throttle at 4-5k rpm thinking I won't roast the tires. The light turns green, I dump the clutch and rear tires begin to burn , but after a half-a-second they hook up and I'm moving. He has a half a car length on me. I rev to 7.5k before shifting to 2nd gear and then I just blast by him to the railroad tracks(about a 1/4 mile) by 5-6 car lengths once I'm in 3rd. I was pumping with adrenline. I can't believe I hadn't raced someone earlier. He said he bogged down at the start. Even if that's the case, I believe if I didn't peel the rears, I would have beaten him by at least 8 car lengths. Now, I need to go out and find some riced out Hondas and give them some hell .

Nice.. My old Gsl-Se and my 79 Gs had the same effect .. 1-2 shift they were toast. Are you FI or carbed? Are your secondary ports working? Either way congrats..

Thanks. My car is using the stock GSL-SE FI setup and the secondaries are locked to wide-open. If I got it in a better state of tune, ya think I could hang with a 'Teg GSR?
