I had even quickly sanded and painted that rail under the abs... It was really nasty before there.. |
Disgusting!
Used an can of gloss black engine enamel..
I wasn't going to blow another $700 painting under the hood of an 7 by a shop. It looks MUCH better, but I want it shiny. Is this possible with spray can paint? Is there some compound that I could rub/buff/polishing etc to make it feel smoooth and be shiny?
since you are doing a small area, I will suggest this. Get a quart of paint from a body shop supply place, and get a preval paint sprayer. for like $10 you can get a decent glossy paint job.

you could probably buy a can of high temperature clearcoat to spray over the black...
that should make it shiny. |
by the way, it looks really nice.
I spray painted a motorcycle gas tank with black, then multiple coats of spray clear coat. I wet sanded between each coat, and it came out great.
the glossy looks nice too
I decided to just leave it. Its not a show car anyhow. Its just a daily driver...
